Stop trying to wrangle your agents into machines that they don't fit into.
Most are forced to choose between speed, persistence, and flexibility.
Dedalus Machines gives you all three.
I think this hits at exactly why @tastelabs was able to raise as much as they did.
Investors desperately want taste to be a skill we can automate because if it can, the slop becomes indistinguishable from real work, the value of ai increases, and we can automate our way into increased profits with less and less human input.
The thing about ai and this non-specific idea of "taste" is that the thing that makes AI useful is taste itself. Having good taste to identify what to create and how to make it human, using AI as a tool to assist in that process.
Trying to automate taste is an attempt to solve the wrong problem. If you as an individual lack taste, that is on you. That isn't something AI can solve. If you want taste, work on yourself or hire someone who already has.
This highlights a fundamental misunderstanding in tech. Not everything can be codified and analyzed. Even if you can make AI imitate "taste" (whatever that means), it still won't MEAN anything. Taste emerges from craft, context, meaning, subjectivity, and genuine care.
replugging my essay, “taste is not scalable” where I had the audacity to quote Kant on taste coz this is getting a bit ridiculous. taste in what? art assets? typography? writing? static design? video editing? cinematography? UI? interaction design? UX? taxonomies? copy? TASTE IN WHAT? WHOSE TASTE? AND THEIR TASTE IN WHAT? AND WHAT WILL THAT BEING FORMULISED DO FOR ANYONE?
tech industry didn’t have the vocabulary to discuss human art and creativity so it’s created a new binary definition: taste vs slop. naturally, there were going to be models and companies “solving” for taste. it started with “context”. I don’t mean to diss on this company, I know others too in this space and it’s been the most soulless work to watch which is really something if you’re going to turn “taste” into your category.
you know what’s the real slop? these catchphrases and whoever keeps coming up with them.
ghibli’s work is BEYOND “tasteful”. AI generated ghiblislop is bottom of the trash pile. go figure.
TASTE IS NOT SCALABLE.

To do this, I spent the weekend biking to every second hand store I could find in SF looking for vases that matched people’s vibe, or their very specific requests 🤏
Last week at NY Tech Week, founders and builders filled the room for our BYOA (Bring Your Own Agents) workshop.
Everyone brought new ideas and their own agents to showcase and try new tools from us and our partners.
Big thank you to our co-host @Mercury, and to @paysponge and @subsysdev for joining us!
Most amount of work I have ever put into an event (and I have hosted a 24 hour rave), really proud of what my team and I was able to accomplish at New York Tech Week!
NY Tech Week is a wrap!
Dedalus closed out the week with Run(way)time, a fashion show celebrating the launch of our merch line and the future we are building with Dedalus Machines.
We brought together founders, builders, artists, designers, and investors to explore creative use cases for AI agents while celebrating a staple of dev communities: merch, reimagined through an elevated runway-ready lens.
Guests received personal agents through @AgentPhoneHQ to play a live game, watched our new merch collection on the runway surrounded by visuals from @fuserstudio and other creative technologists, and enjoyed art and music throughout the night.
Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming interest and support. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible.
