@CTsportsci For goblet squat, a dumbbell can weigh 20 lbs which is more than enough for someone that hasn’t squatted. Barbell is 45lbs.

Is less weight early on not safer ?

The goblet squat is more intuitive than the barbell back squat for movement pattern too. Beginners*

I just coached a group of high school track athletes for the first time.

@mboyle1959 the gym I’m at has a good amount of barbells and racks but low on dumbbells. Should I just prioritize almost every strength exercise with the barbell?

@StrengthDebates Look at femur length and anterior/Post tilt. Bird dogs / dead bug holds to fix that.

Then squats on elevated heel.

Then extend arm bumper plate squats with elevated heel.

Then kettlebell front rack squats.

Then go to barbell back squats.
