Introducing Bill Szasz, one of our incredibly helpful research assistants at the station! New to the team in May, Bill assists with the carrying out of farm operations including watering, tillage, fertilizing, and weed control. His favorite running project to work on is our SSDI.
Amazing improvement on hay yields this year, overseen by Farm Manager James Fry-thank you! Last year at first cutting, this facility put up 10 T of hay, consisting of 27 (3x3) bales. Compare that with this year's first cut, which saw over 75 T in 85 (4x4) bales at average 195 RFV

@ColoradoWater provides five grant awards to benefit agricultural, municipal, and recreational water users across Western Colorado. Under this project, we will construct an overhead traveling sprinkler system on a 12.5 acre field to support digital and precision agriculture.
Thanks to Shawn Whiteman, son of our volunteer Cheryl A. Whiteman, for helping to repair some of our equipments used for daily operations. Shawn is owner of Create-A-Scape L.L.C., a Phoenix, AZ, based company offering custom design landscape, waterfalls, irrigation systems, etc.
Jimmy is a graduate from @ColoradoMesaU with a B.S. in Biology. He is a life time resident of the Grand Valley, a current sixth generation farmer and military veteran. His objective is to use skills & experience in a manner that reflects his passion for research and agriculture.
Every research station needs an anchor technician to keep our fields and equipments in a state of readiness for research activities. Today we profile Jimmy Fry, who has been with @ColoradoStateU for more than 3 years as an Operational Manager/Research Assistant at our station.
When you ask Jimmy what his day-to-day activities look like, he will tell you it’s everything from learning how to repair unique research equipment to preparing fields for the next phase of research to harvesting bulk crops.
