It's been a busy week in Geneva at the @WHO
Executive Board, where we've been working with
@uicc, meeting with Member State delegations and trying to keep cancer prevention and people-centred care at the top of the global health agenda
👏"We applaud governments for adopting the Political Declaration [...]." — Mina Pécot-Demiaux, NCD Alliance Policy and Advocacy Officer, reading our constituency statement on #EB158 Agenda Item 6: Follow-up to the #HLM4 Political Declaration.
⚡️"Nevertheless, we express our strong concern about the significant influence of health-harming industries, which weakened the outcome, including less ambitious commitments on NCD prevention."

The 158th @WHO Executive Board session (#EB158) kicked off on February 2, with #NCDs on the agenda.
The ISN co-signed the constituency statement on item 6, led by the @NCDAlliance. We welcome the adoption of the Political Declaration, but are concerned about the influence of health-harming industries, which weakened the outcome, including less ambitious commitments on NCD prevention.

🚫 Obesity isn’t about willpower. It’s about environments, policies & systems that shape health.
We need a shift: from blame to equitable systems that deliver prevention, diagnosis & care. Collective action can turn the tide.
