🚨 URGENT: Iran’s regime is preparing to execute Bita Hemmati, the first woman sentenced to death over the January 2026 anti-regime uprising.
Bita and her husband, Mohammadreza Majidi-Asl (34), were arrested together in Tehran during the protests. Along with two others from the same building — Behrouz and Kourosh Zamaninezhad — they face execution on charges including participating in demonstrations, “disrupting national security,” and fabricated claims of acting for foreign powers. A rushed trial with no fair process.
This is part of a brutal crackdown: Iran has already executed multiple protesters, with hundreds more at risk. The regime is using the death penalty to terrorize people into silence.
Say her name. Demand: #StopExecutingBitaHemmati #FreeBitaHemmati #IranProtests2026
The world must pressure Iranian authorities to halt these executions immediately. Silence equals complicity.

“How could a girl who has been married to an abusive husband for four, five years dare to go to court?,” she said. “How can she afford going to court, or how does she even know that she can go to court?”

A pregnant Bahá’í woman from Rafsanjan, southeast Iran, is among almost 80 Bahá’ís detained and jailed in recent months, as the Islamic Republic pursues an escalating campaign of brutal persecution against the religious minority.
The Bahá’í International Community has also reported in recent weeks on the serious and concerning cases of Peyvand Naimi and Borna Naimi, two cousins in Kerman, who have faced brutal forms of torture, mock executions and forced confessions over alleged crimes they did not commit.

In Iran, court-appointed lawyers increasingly serve repression rather than justice. Denial of independent counsel, rushed appeals, and ignored torture allegations turn trials into tools of punishment.

Since the Taliban barred girls from education, ~70% have been pushed into early or forced marriage. Two-thirds of the marriages involved girls under the age of 18. New laws make it virtually impossible for them to divorce against their husband's will. https://t.co/5DxqQQC1lx
Congratulations to Dear @Malala Yousafzai for dedicating her award at the Hay Festival to Afghan girls banned from education for more than 1,700 days. Thank you for standing with Afghan girls and raising their voices.

No matter where they occur, attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable, unjustifiable and must stop immediately.
Countries must respect the rules of war and protect civilians at all times.
They are #NotATarget.

Afghan women, children & men continue to be pushed out of countries where they had sought safety, forcing them to return to Afghanistan against their will & exposing them to grave risk.
@volker_turk calls on States to halt these involuntary returns.

.@volker_turk deplores the execution of two more people in Iran. Since the military escalation began, at least 34 people have been executed on political & national security charges, including in the context of the January protests. It is unacceptable that the Iranian authorities are instrumentalising the current conflict to further stifle dissent. The UN Human Rights Chief urges Iranian authorities to promptly impose a total moratorium on the death penalty.
🔴Citing the 'Law on Intensifying Punishment for Espionage,' the Judiciary has accused dissidents and protesters of 'collaboration with the enemy' and confiscated their property. This wave, which began with a few prominent figures during the January 2026 protests, has intensified following the recent war.

Freedom House is encouraged to hear that Narges Mohammadi has been discharged from intensive care and continues receiving treatment. She should be immediately and unconditionally freed, alongside all political prisoners in Iran, and allowed to recover in peace without persecution, harassment, or the threat of reimprisonment. #FreedThemAl
Good to join @UN leaders in Tokyo for our first-ever meeting in Asia. On the agenda: global megatrends, climate, technological disruption, UN reform, and the central role of human rights in delivering for people around the world.

Iranian authorities are recklessly putting the life of human rights defender Narges Mohammadi at risk by subjecting her to torture or other ill-treatment through deliberate denial of timely and adequate specialized healthcare. She must be released now! https://t.co/0J9qYb2DV9
A woman is about to be executed for one “crime”, speaking out.
That’s the reality of the Iranian regime.
This is not a government that values freedom.
This is not a regime moved by polite diplomacy.
It silences dissent.
It punishes courage.
It fears its own people.
And history has shown, they don’t respond to words. They respond to strength.
Today, after 17 years in prison, Maryam Akbari Monfared is finally FREE.
This photo from November 2023, inside the U.S. House of Representatives, honored her courage and resilience.
A mother, a voice for justice, and a symbol of unwavering resistance—she endured years without a single day of leave.
Her freedom is a victory—but many others remain behind bars.
We must be their voice.
