I join @antonioguterres in his warning.
Sudan represents a profound failure of the international community to prevent this war and end it. Millions of Sudanese are trapped, facing starvation, and we cannot reach them. Attacks against civilians and humanitarian workers must stop.
I'm deeply concerned by the escalation of fighting in & around El Obeid, a major population centre in Sudan, including drone attacks impacting civilians & civilian infrastructure.
I call for restraint from all sides and urge them to take all necessary measures to respect and protect civilians & humanitarians.
Far too many times in this conflict, clear warnings have failed to trigger concerted action by the international community. I urge all those with influence to exert it to prevent further bloodshed.
We must not allow the horrors of El Fasher to be repeated in El Obeid.

Conflict and shocks are forcing families to decide who eats and who goes hungry.
Our latest joint report with @FAO warns of worsening hunger across 13 hotspots in the coming months. We have a narrow window before more people are pushed to starvation.

Back in Jerusalem with our team.
Gaza remains brutal, the West Bank is deteriorating. Our teams reach over a million Palestinians every month with food, but progress is fragile without sustained access, shelter and medicine.
There is no recovery without an end to this conflict.
This @USForeignAssist support comes at a critical moment and will make a real difference for millions of people slipping into hunger.
Our teams are ready to deliver at speed and scale. Now is the time to scale up global support.
Critical new funding from @USForeignAssist will support WFP’s life-saving food and nutrition operations to reach more than 38 million of the most vulnerable across at least 37 countries.
The announcement comes at a moment of unprecedented global need driving hunger to record levels. https://t.co/uQvYYdWxuU
📍#DRC: Nearly 10M people in the eastern provinces face crisis or emergency levels of food insecurity due to ongoing conflict.
Now, the Ebola outbreak risks pushing the most vulnerable communities deeper into hunger.

Strong responses are built when partners, governments, and communities work together.
Thank you @DrTedros for your presence and commitment.
@WFP continues to support the frontline health response and work with communities so no one has to choose between health and hunger.
I know how committed @WHO is to supporting the #Ebola outbreak response in #DRC. But the entire @UN system is equally committed.
Take our sister agency @WFP, who I call “The Wings of the Response,” thanks to their UNHAS flights that bring experts and humanitarians to the field.
In Bunia, capital of Ituri Province, I have also seen how WFP is implementing local solutions to access to nutritious food, helping local restaurants provide local food to the local communities.
Thank you WFP for all you do.

What links oil prices in the U.S. to a mother trying to feed her children in Afghanistan?
In this interview with @jmhansler, I discuss how crises, funding cuts, and conflicts are shaping hunger worldwide.
Ripple effects from the war in Iran are threatening millions more of the most vulnerable people with crisis levels of hunger or worse, @WFP acting Executive Director @CarlSkau told CNN

⚠️Three months after warning that the Middle East crisis could push millions more people into hunger, new analysis shows that the fallout is already having deep and long-lasting effects.
Vulnerable families far from the center of the crisis are being hit the hardest.

Great meeting with H.E. Eng. @AlfadleyA. We focused on private sector partnerships, sustainable solutions, and scaling @MEWA_KSA’s innovations to tackle food insecurity in Gaza, Syria, Sudan and Yemen. Looking forward to continue this important partnership.
10 years of strong partnership. @WFP and @KSRelief have worked together since day one to fight hunger and build local, sustainable solutions.
I met with H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah today to discuss the future: innovation, technology & scaling impact.
Great to be back in #Riyadh 🇸🇦. This partnership spans decades and supported millions.
Saudi Arabia's support and leadership in advocating for aid to reach people safely - especially amid rising tensions - has been essential.
People facing #Ebola in #DRC have endured years of conflict, displacement and hunger. They know what is needed. Outbreaks are stopped when they lead.
To support, @WFP is working with partners to move health workers, supplies and food fast. Speed and solidarity can end an outbreak
The Ebola outbreak in #DRCongo has quickly spread from four to 25 health zones.
@WFP_UNHAS is supporting the response:
✈️ 90+ flights so far
👥 680+ frontline responders transported
📦 ~10 metric tons of critical supplies delivered
This frontline support is essential to contain the outbreak.
"I have never seen anything like it."
After visits to Afghanistan, Sudan and beyond, WFP’s Acting Executive Director @CarlSkau reflects on a worsening hunger crisis — and what funding cuts mean for families on the frontlines.

Great discussions at the @WorldBankGroup#FragilityForum.
I joined @DMiliband and @bjerde_anna to discuss the impact of stronger partnerships in times of crisis. With our local partners, we reach people further and faster, and ensure our support lasts longer than our presence.
"If a barrel of oil remains over $100 until July, some 45 million people extra will be pushed into acute hunger," reports @WFP Acting Executive Director @CarlSkau on Balance of Power https://t.co/sD2aMpZeHd
At the Joint Boards meeting, I restated @WFP's commitment to @UN reforms that help us work better together, with greater impact. Member States can back this with more risk-sharing and flexible funding. Our success is only measured by how much we improve lives of people we serve.
The rising global cost of conflicts, crises, and funding cuts is being paid by families who can least afford it.
WFP’s Acting Executive Director @CarlSkau explains how hunger is rising, while our ability to respond is increasingly limited.
🚨 Burhakaba, #Somalia is on the brink of catastrophe.
Nearly 40% of children under five are acutely malnourished.
Across Somalia, 6 million people face crisis hunger — but funding gaps mean WFP can reach only 1 in 10.
⚠️#Lebanon’s humanitarian emergency is deepening.
Over 1 million people are displaced — and rising prices are pushing food beyond reach — as crisis enters third month.
WFP is scaling up assistance nationwide. 📣 But access and funding are critical to keep lifelines open. https://t.co/2Lcp7oKPWM
