Właśnie wyszedł - jeszcze ciepły - artykuł nt. relacji chińsko-angolańskich w "African Affairs". Dziękuję wspaniałym współautorom - @DKopinski@WTycholiz i Jarosław Jura za badania w Angoli, inspiracje i ciężką pracę
It took a while, but our book on #China FDI in #Africa is finally out. Huge thanks to all the authors: @Hangwei_Li@andrzej_polus@WTycholiz@jjuraja, Kaja Kałużyńska, Paulo de Carvalho and my amazing co-editors Padraig Carmody and the late Ian Taylor. https://t.co/ZpPexiMGXq
@rodrikdani Well, this is because you are just a professor from a university who apparently knows little about the world. Whilst they are the authors and the editors at The Economist. Or the other way around 🤔
@SimonBowmaker@PeterBoettke The most 'interesting' and difficult case, as pointed out by @Mattzwolinski on a couple of ocassions, is when the exploitative structure is mutually beneficial - though one side (those who exploit) is getting much more than the other.
Great meeting at the Zambian Association of Manufacturers. Their slogan says ZAM "adds value". We hope we can add value too with our research on Chinese FDI. Thank you @Lewis_Mulinda for making this possible. Kick-off in #Zambia with @WTycholiz
I am delighted to inform that @WTycholiz and my paper in @thirdworldq on Tanzania's position in the international division of labour has just been published on-line. https://t.co/QqtexmIBvG
"This book is a must read for not only beer industry aficionados but also those who want to see firsthand how international corporate interests may undo development efforts in Africa." - @WTycholiz on Heineken in Africa by Olivier van Beemen available now https://t.co/AmP326MTBe
After a long series of rejections (I know that it’s part of the game, but it is still very depressing) the manuscript I co-authored with @WTycholiz was accepted by one of the top journals in development studies!
This is a pic of illeagal migrant professor in Luanda - @andrzej_polus. It took us 4 visits to extend his visa here, and we ultimatelly failed. #Angola we love you, but your bureaucracy is killing us. @WTycholiz
🥳I signed a contract with @Palgrave (terrific IPE Series) for a book on the Political Economy of Chinese FDI and Spillovers in Africa🇿🇲🇦🇴. It will be co-edited by Padraig Carmody and Ian Taylor (posthoumously), with input by @Hangwei_Li, Andrzej Polus, Jarek Jura and @WTycholiz.
Climate goals vs. poverty alleviation: according to Bruckner et al. (2022) lifting the 1.2bn people out of extreme poverty would lead to an increase of just 1% in global emissions https://t.co/w6s6Ybu3fz @naturesustainab, figure by @TheEconomist
Today, Africa's largest power plant, the GERD’s first turbine began generating power. This is a good news for our continent & the downstream countries with whom we aspire to work together. As Ethiopia marks the birth of a new era, I congratulate all Ethiopians!
