🚨 HELP US LOCATE
"Dr., help,
My relative who used to wash cars in the People's War area, his name is Enoque Tembe, was picked up by the police without explanation and the last time I got in touch he said he was in Maluana. From there until now we have no further information"
“According to government sources, around 13,000 people have crossed the border into Malawi since the Constitutional Council announced the final results of the general elections.”
“According to authorities, most of the people crossed southern Malawi, many of them crossing rivers to escape the unrest.”
“Dominic Mwandira, commissioner for the Nsanje border district in southern Malawi, said that around 2,500 families had arrived to date, warning that the number could increase.”
“About 11,000 people crossed the Shire River to enter Malawi, while another 2,000 crossed the Ruo River,” Mwandira specified. DW
Right now, there are several cases we are receiving of people who are just disappearing.
This man in the video is explaining in tears how he was taken by police, with uniform and police car to a distant location from where he and other 14 people live in Maputo. Arriving there(in Maluana), as he explains
“I was kicked out the car, to the bush. I got into the bush running. Realized I was getting lost, came back to this side. I saw a house with a light so I went there asking for help. People from that house then came, tied me and started beating me up..”
Now, what would be the interest of police? Taking random people in the city and dropping them off in the middle of the night, in random places?
Venâncio Mondlane is teaching Frelimo how to be a democracy. VM asked the people to propose what their flag should look like. Frelimo has never consulted the people about anything. Frelimo has the authority. Venâncio has the people.
Opposition candidate Venâncio Mondlane is asking Mozambicans to propose a new flag of the country without the AK 47.
He is asking designers to work on proposals. The public will vote. The winner will receive a minimum of 5,000 USD from Individual donations. From 10 January 2025 Mondlane wants Mozambicans to use the new official flag chosen by the people.
Everyday people text me asking whether I am in regular touch with opposition candidate Venâncio Mondlane or not and my answer is the same. No, I am not.
Last time I talked to VM was in October when his lawyer was shot dead by 25 bullets. We basically never talked again, everything I write here I hear when he is LIVE on Facebook. I normally bring here his key points because most of my followers can’t speak Portuguese, and knowing what Mondlane is saying helps understand the situation in Mozambique.
The fact that I have firm position about Frelimo doesn’t mean I think Venâncio Mondlane or other candidates would be the best fit for the country, simply because that’s not even on me to think about. I believe people are mature enough to make their own decisions when they go to the polls and deal with the consequences of their own choices.
My role (the one I chose) is to defend the right of Mozambicans to choose who they want. If it’s Frelimo, good. If it’s not, also good. Mozambicans don’t have to be killed because of that, and that’s what I defend. If doing that makes me a criminal and digital terrorist, I am embracing all of that.
Seeing where the country is right now, it’s hard to think Frelimo would win with 65/70% in a situation where different professional classes are striking over salaries, benefits and working conditions such as doctors, teachers and even judges threatening to strike. Police and military without their payments etc, it’s all type of crisis at once.
There is a general discontent among young people, seeing resources being discovered every single day but that is not translating into any improvement of life conditions. There is no hope. We look at the future and we see nothing but elites getting richer and richer. We see kids still sitting on the floor, under the trees to study.
The feeling is that Mozambique is stuck. Other countries discussing future and we are still counting holes in national roads and watching kids starting the year without books and only receiving almost at the end of the same year. We are seeing schools closing because someone is not paying water bills, but money to buy cars for directors? Secured ✅
In elections where both National Commission of Elections admitted problems. The constitutional council admitted problems. Observers (national and international) admitted serious problems, it’s unfair to ask Mozambicans to just accept problematic results.
Even the changes from 70% to 65% Constitutional Council did not present any evidence on how they came to that percentage. Where are the voting reports they considered? What are the ones they did not consider valid and why?! The lack of transparency makes it difficult to just accept results.
Whether Venâncio Mondlane won or not, I don’t know but I find it hard to accept that Frelimo won unless I see reliable evidence and I am able to do the calculations myself.
Just to end these thoughts, I am trying to understand this video showing voting cards, notices and voter registration forms found few days ago at the house of secretary of Sidawa neighborhood (Frelimo member) in Matola Gare.
The question remains one: why would these cards that are personal, be in someone’s house?!! Still trying to understand.
💔 Massacre at Maputo Central Prison: Over 130 Lives Lost
The tragic events at Maputo’s Central Prison and BO have left over 130 confirmed victims, exposing severe human rights violations and unimaginable brutality by the security forces.
📌 The Escape
On December 25, prisoners seized two AKM weapons from the Penitentiary Guard, taking two guards hostage. In the chaos, over 2,000 prisoners fled, while around 300 remained detained. Security forces—including the GOI (Intervention Operations Group), UIR (Rapid Intervention Unit), and the military—launched operations, recapturing more than 300 prisoners.
📌 The Massacre
Following their recapture, prisoners were taken to a room within the penitentiary. That night, between December 25 and 26, a massacre unfolded. Over 100 prisoners were executed by security forces. This adds to the 33 prisoners killed during the escape, bringing the death toll to over 130.
📌 The Impact on Families
Families who arrived at the penitentiary to bring food to their loved ones were told to go to the Central Hospital. Some found their relatives injured; others were sent to the morgue, where countless bodies remain unidentified. Morgues in Maputo and Tsalala are overflowing with victims from this tragedy.
⚠️ The Urgent Need for Accountability
This massacre is a grave setback for justice and human rights in Mozambique. Many injured prisoners are not receiving adequate medical care, which could push the death toll even higher.
It is imperative that independent investigations are conducted, those responsible are held accountable, and measures are implemented to ensure such atrocities never happen again.
🕊️ We cannot remain silent.
