Remove encroachments and free up Mumbai's footpaths - BMC Commissioner @AshwiniBhide

At a review meeting held on Friday, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide directed civic officials to prioritise the removal of encroachments from footpaths across Mumbai.

As per BMC, Assistant Commissioners have been instructed to clear footpaths near schools, hospitals, railway stations, Metro stations, bus terminals and markets by removing unauthorised hawkers, illegal structures and improperly constructed ramps to make them safe and accessible for pedestrians.

Commissioner said clean and unobstructed footpaths are a hallmark of a well-functioning city, noting that nearly 50 per cent of Mumbai's residents rely on walking as part of their daily commute. She added that encouraging greater use of footpaths would improve traffic flow and help reduce pollution.

Dainik Bhaskar journalist went undercover as a laborer in a flour mill in UP and exposed a rotten system that's playing with people's health.

Operators in mills across Agra, Firozabad are mixing stone powder from Rajasthan into atta, increasing their earnings by 70–80 paise per kg i.e. 7k-8k extra per day. These adulterated flour, sold under brands like Maharaja Bhog Atta, is even reaching school mid-day meals. These calcium carbonate can clog intestines and damage the liver and kidneys.

Being in the D2C industry, I'm aware of many brands who do these kinds of things just to save margins and make more money. We keep calling them out, but this looks much bigger.

Government and FSSAI need to act and take control. Consumer health should never be compromised for profit.

A father refuses to go home.

Not because he has nowhere to go but because his 21-year-old son, Mohammad Muzammil Khokar, will never return home.

While the city sleeps, a bereaved father sits alone in silence, holding his son's photograph and waiting for justice. No parent should have to spend the night outside a police station pleading for a fair investigation.

His protest is peaceful. His demand is simple: register FIR against Developer, investigate the case fairly, fix responsibility wherever the evidence leads, and ensure that no one is above the law.

How many more sleepless nights must this father endure before his voice is heard?

Justice cannot be postponed forever.
