@babsmc@stevenmackinnon We respectfully ask Minister MacKinnon to study the 2017 EA & Transport Canada's Section 5.4 regulations, vs. the impact on the Federal Government's large & positive investments in the Port Lands & housing. But Constitutionally the Province has the right to expropriate City land.
NEW: "I personally have not formed an opinion" on Billy Bishop airport expansion proposal, PM Carney says under questioning from @BarbaraPatroci about the province's pitch. Carney says they'll soon be launching consultations with citizens of Toronto to understand full impacts.
In this article, we have a strong response from Liberal MP Rob Oliphant, who recognizes the important role city plays in the tripartite agreement, and that expanding Pearson makes a lot more sense! https://t.co/hQjdlkZUxm #topoli#cdnpoli
Earlier this Spring, a new advocacy group called FastTrackTO proposed a bold 10-point plan to speed up Toronto's infamously and maddeningly slow streetcar network, to reduce travel times by as much as 40 per cent. https://t.co/JiHqCdHMEt
@WaterfrontAll@waterkeepermark An airport *might* be an economic driver . . . we're repeatedly told to believe that. But many other things can also be "economic drivers" too. In the economics of the situation, it's a question of whether one gets in the way of the others.
The goal: complementarity.
@waterkeepermark The central waterfront features the closest Toronto has to Central Park. It is also the focal point of 25 years of (often slow going) urban revitalization (see Port Lands et al). Both elements are major economic drivers that an expanded jet airport is at odds with.
The public record shows Toronto's Hospital Row major institutions support bike lanes on University Avenue. I don't represent any institution but this is the public record which @abctoronto_ should read first. As a driver, I support bike lanes.
This Ontario government has never encountered a privatization dumpster fire it wasn't eager to stoke with billions of public dollars.
Hopefully our new 🇨🇦 FEDERAL government isn't similarly susceptible.

A new study has found that renewing and expanding Toronto's public housing infrastructure would generate $12.6 billion in tax revenue and save $1.8 billion in healthcare costs

@KeithJohnLeslie Now that the Premier has time on his hands, maybe he might like to spend some time on Toronto’s central waterfront. Experience it. Figure out what #jets at #YTZ will impact. @NoJetsTO#NoJetsTO#onpoli
Premier Ford, elbows up. Stand by your words and tell JP Morgan, and their lobbyists, that Toronto's waterfront isn't for sale.
While I'm at it, here's the truth: Without even sharing a business model or plan, your government is barreling ahead with legislation to bring jets to our lakefront, expropriate Toronto's park lands and sideline the voices of our residents.
If you're not consulting with the public, or working with Toronto as a partner, who has your ear?
Give any thought past “Toronto could use a second airport” and it becomes clear that Billy Bishop cannot be that airport.
There’s simply no space.
Compare it to Pearson, which is served by a train, two major highways, and several square kilometres of parking.

@EricDLombardi@pothen It seems the Premier's Office & the Toronto Port Authority haven't read the 2017 E.A., internalized the current Transport Canada regulations. Nor considered how jets at YTZ conflict with the revitalization of the Port Lands or indeed Ontario Place (much as we criticize the spa).
