It’s bc most ppl weren’t taught intimacy properly. We’re taught attraction, flirting, being desirable but nothing on repair, tolerating someone’s humanity, being accountable etc. Ppl become so focused on the goal that they start evaluating against an imagined spouse shaped list.
Relative rotation speeds and axial tilts of the planets and dwarf planets.
This animation shows how fast each planet spins compared to the others, and how tilted their axes are. Jupiter and Saturn spin the fastest, completing a day in about 10 hours. Earth takes 24 hours, while Venus rotates extremely slowly and in the opposite direction.
Uranus stands out with its extreme tilt of about 98 degrees, essentially rolling on its side as it orbits the Sun. The differences in spin and tilt reveal a lot about each planet's formation history and past collisions.
Put August 12 in your phone now. Genuinely.
Before sunrise, six planets spread across the sky. Afternoon, the eclipse. After dark, the Perseids Meteor shower.
Four events on one day, NASA says, and the new moon that same date keeps the sky dark enough to actually see the meteors.
You don't need a telescope for most of it. A field, a coat, and twenty minutes for your eyes to adjust.
If anyone drove by me in the morning then evening, they probably thought to themselves "why is this dude spending his whole day taking pictures of that dumb structure, he should probably get a life."
I didn't know what light I was waiting for, but I knew I'd know it when I saw it.
Kids shouldn’t go into the trades. They should go into historical studies, because there is going to be a massive industry of historians working around the clock trying to explain why things went so crazy in the 21st century.
At a gym in Texas, a bodybuilder with arms like tree trunks offered me a scoop of neon-pink powder.
"You want a shot? Dry scoop it."
A samurai does not refuse an offering of strength in a foreign hall.
"I accept the elixir," I said.
I dumped the raw pre-workout powder directly onto my tongue.
It tasted like pure chemicals and compressed lightning. My lungs instantly begged for air, but a samurai never coughs before a challenger.
I swallowed hard, forced a tranquil nod, and said, "A delicate berry note."
The giant blinked in disbelief. "Dude... that’s three hundred milligrams of caffeine with zero water. You didn't even flinch."
He roared to the room. "He dry-scooped the Psycho-Juice with a straight face! He's an absolute warlord!"
Five massive lifters surrounded me, beating their chests and chanting my name.
I stood there, my vision flashing in ultraviolet, my heart hammering like a war drum against my ribs.
I have never felt more focused.
I have never needed a cardiologist more.

Trees don’t panic in the winter thinking, "Oh no, I’m not growing leaves, I’m a failure." They just rest and wait for spring. You are allowed to have a low-yield season without calling it a personal crisis.
Before the murder of her 14-year-old son Emmett Till in 1955, Mamie Till-Mobley was living a relatively comfortable life in Chicago. She had a job, a home and a son she adored. Like many Black Americans living in the North, she was aware of the racial violence taking place in the Jim Crow South, but the brutal reality of that system had not yet entered her life in such a devastatingly personal way.
That changed when Emmett traveled to Mississippi to visit relatives during the summer of 1955. After an encounter with a white woman at a grocery store, he was abducted from his great-uncle’s home by Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam. Days later, his badly mutilated body was recovered from the Tallahatchie River. Mamie was suddenly confronting the very racial violence that had previously seemed geographically distant from her life in Chicago.
What she did next became an important moment in American history. Mamie insisted that her son’s funeral include an open casket so people could witness what had been done to him. Tens of thousands of people came to view Emmett’s body in Chicago, and photographs published in the Black press, particularly Jet magazine, carried the reality of his murder into homes across the country. Rather than allowing the brutality to remain hidden, she forced America to confront it.
The men accused of killing Emmett were tried before an all-white jury in Mississippi and acquitted. Months later, protected from being tried again for the same murder, Bryant and Milam admitted their involvement in a paid magazine interview. The case became one of the defining examples of how racial violence could operate alongside a legal system that routinely failed to protect Black Americans.
Mamie transformed her grief into decades of education and activism. She traveled, spoke publicly about her son’s murder and remained involved in efforts for racial justice for the rest of her life. Emmett Till’s death did not single-handedly create the Civil Rights Movement, which had deep roots stretching back generations, but the national outrage surrounding his murder became an important catalyst during a critical period of the struggle.
