Burning wood is devastating for people’s health - both burners and their neighbours.
It produces PM2.5, long term exposure to which increases the risk of dying of cancer by over 20%.
Great reporting by @emilynstearn.

Every winter, #MotherNature ❄️ reveals how much we over-designed our streets for cars. But if we look carefully, she also inspires us to create healthier and more equitable streets for all!

“When it comes to cars, that finding suggests that a shock like a road closure might be enough to finally force people to take action and change how they commute.”

Why it’s psychologically hard to switch to public transit or biking.
“Over time, land use and infrastructure quality will largely dictate how people travel. But nudges can tilt decisions…can lead people to adjust habits before they otherwise would have.” https://t.co/MXIVfjOI1V

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. Politician claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data. Great, @citynewsTO.

Amsterdam’s plan to remove 11,200 parking spaces from its streets by the end of 2025 is even more inspiring when we realize the kind of people-places that are possible where cars used to be. Example — #Amsterdam’s Elandsgracht between 2014 & 2019, via @schlijper’s great pics.
Many of the food delivery machines involved in close calls with pedestrians are not bicycles. They are illegal electric motorbikes. Not a cycling issue: a law enforcement issue. https://t.co/Damnvkpaj3
Bike-lanes don’t cause traffic congestion.
Car dependency, land-use sprawl, too many cars driving too much taking up too much space, highly subsidized driving costs, and not enough choices in how to get around, ALL cause traffic congestion.
Think about it. THAT’S common sense.
Delivery driver discovers induced demand: "You have to take all the back roads to try to avoid the traffic but the locals use them too so they get blocked up too." Building more roads, creates more traffic. Always.
