@renee_sweetwood I’ve been screaming this for years!Standards are a guide of what students need to know at grade level.Standards don’t provide text to students.Curriculums makes learning and teaching consistent for districts, especially fluid districts.Curriculums also provide measurable targets.
I'm thinking that today is a good day to remind everyone that teachers should be able to deduct more than $250.00 on their taxes for the school supplies they buy.
This is how to build resilience:
- Confront the negative, then look for the positive.
- Follow your moral compass.
- Believe in something bigger than yourself.
- Focus on what you can actually change.
- Strive for social connectedness.

Public Service Message:
Many students simply aren’t getting enough sleep and they are paying the price at school.
Some are in bed on their phones on FaceTime, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, Netflix, & Instagram until 3am.
Parents, PLEASE be aware and spread the word by retweeting.
Admin, while this may be one of the tougher aspects of your job, supporting your teachers with student discipline in the classrooms and supporting them with parent issues is one of the most important aspects of your job.
Admin have to find a better way than using teacher planning time for meetings, committees, to cover classes, etc. Because then they have to use evenings and weekends to plan.
@CoriWarkentin I have certainly seen the impact of learning since implementing Teacher Clarity strategies. The clarity of understanding that my students are sharing with me are amazing.
@ShelbyyMariee_ The title is great! Showing students work is so powerful to create that feeling that they belong and are an important part of the school community!
I have created a “safe zone” seat for my students to utilize when they have the need to reflect and redirect themselves to ensure the safe feeling that is essential for Maslow’s basic needs. #ImpactLearningKS
Our book study on "High Impact Instruction" by Jim Knight continues this week in Advanced Instructional Methods as we read and discuss chapters 10-15. When my students read something that impacts their classroom practices, they will retweet this and share it! #ImpactLearningKS
All of these components of Advanced Instructional Methods act as building blocks that must connect and build upon one another to help build/create successful classrooms and successful learning experiences for our students. #ImpactLearningKS
For our seventh week of Advanced Instructional Methods, students will reply to this tweet with their final reflections on the learning in our class. The students this fall have been nothing short of amazing! #ImpactLearningKS
Behind an assessment capable learner is an assessment capable teacher. Teachers equip their students with the skill, will and thrill to help accelerate learning. #ImpactLearningKS
During our sixth week of Advanced Instructional Methods, we will be learning about how to develop assessment-capable visible learners, which empowers Ss to become their own teachers & more than triples the speed of learning (Effect Size = 1.33). Follow along at #ImpactLearningKS
@ksoeken1 This visual is fantastic. This would be a great thinking stem when teaching your students what an assessment capable learner is. #ImpactLearningKS
I would love to see school districts require all leaders substitute one day a month or at least cover a class or lunch duty to give teachers a well deserved break and for them to remember what it’s like to be back in the classroom.
