Just in: Banks could start lending on dangerous properties if remediation plan in place
Pretty significant step by the banking sector here. Could help tens of thousands of leaseholders currently trapped in homes as a result of the EWS crisis https://t.co/OaKvZPtN0R
Today @Lees_Martina declares a campaign win in @thesundaytimes + lists our most recent amendments to the Building Safety Bill which provide further protection for #leaseholders. Details can be found here on the @GOVUK website. 👉 https://t.co/3AW3V2MIdp
Looks like the Relay Building was also caught up in the post-Grenfell building safety crisis.
As you can see it’s made of glass - so no cladding. But it has timber on balconies which now have to be replaced, trapping residents while they decide who pays
Just received our Service charge for 2022. The average flat will be paying £6818 this year with Waking Watch and fire alarms included and BS costs. That’s £568 extra a month. How can people afford this? @team_greenhalgh@michaelgove
"It's not about the residents, it's about the buildings and it's iconic status" - direct quote from the Greenwich Council requesting us to replace the very inflammable illegal wooden cladding on the flats with, even more wood!
Really lovely to get a direct quote from the council that they don't care if we all burn to death, as long as they keep the buildings' aesthetics. Really goes to show how much the government don't care.
Since the BSF opened over a year ago, only 151 applications have been granted funds - on average 16 a month.
At this rate, it will take over 5 years to clear the backlog.
Completely unacceptable. Lives are on hold.
@michaelgove what is taking so long?

The cladding and fire safety scandal is a stain on our country. Many of us care deeply about the innocent people whose lives it has destroyed. Thanks to colleagues @SMcPartland@MPIainDS@PBottomleyMP the issue remains firmly on the agenda. @EOCS_Official@ukcag
Stats for Remediation of Non-ACM Buildings for July just released. Interestingly there have been 48 new block registrations reviewed during this period.

It’s been 3 weeks since the @RobertJenrick announcement on sub 18m buildings.
The consolidated advice note still hasn’t been withdrawn and no changes have been proposed to the Fire Safety Act.
What are you waiting for @mhclg?
The FT has revealed a secret club of super-rich Tory donors regularly meets with the Prime Minister and Chancellor to lobby for lower taxes for the rich and cuts to public services for everyone else.
This is how our rigged system works.
Our democracy should not be for sale.
