My favorite theory to learn about was probably Privacy Management Theory because it helped me to see the way people in my life may handle their information differently. I feel it will help me to respect boundaries more as well as protecting my own. #utcommtheory

I think the movie “Elf” could be an example of losing face when Buddy let’s his differences from the other elves get him down. They all begin to talk about him behind his back, and he loses faith in himself as an elf. #utcommtheory

Since I’m a white female, I am able to see the disadvantages that come along with being female, but it may be harder for me to see the disadvantages of other races since I am white. #UTcommtheory

I would say I grew up in more of a feminine speech community. I feel I was always taught the importance of consideration and active listening when conversing with someone. I definitely feel that it helps me build that connection with the person I'm conversing with #utcommtheory

Agenda-setting theory is relevant for sure. Gatekeepers & the media typically show us what they know we want to see, which prevents people from seeing anything outside of what they want to think. This is super relevant with the divide in our country right now #utcommtheory
