My favorite theory this semester was the social penetration theory. I enjoyed the inner workings of how we slowly reveal ourselves to someone else, each different from others on what we tell first vs last. #utcommtheory
@BittelKaitlin I really enjoyed this one too! I can now connect how I talk vs my boyfriend and not get upset because we communicate differently #utcommtheory
I can relate to having a desire for social approval in public by trying to sound presentable and not use slang. I try to sound like an adult or like those around me. #UTcommtheory
@BittelKaitlin I totttally understand where you are coming from. It has created almost a paranoia that I will not be able to have enough money to live. #utcommtheory
I grew up in a middle-class household, but with 3 younger sisters, it was hard to make things meet. Once I got to college I really saw how people take their parent's money for granted when I always had to pay for anything that I wanted. #utcommtheory
@BittelKaitlin I also speak with rapport talk because I feel that when explaining anything, details matter. Having a lot of friends who are guys, this can get frustrating for me because they are not the same way. #utcommtheory
With a family of 6 and 5 being female, I grew up in a feminine speech community. At a young age, I was taught to express feelings and care to others when they speak. I still use rapport speaking to this day. #utcommtheory
I think the agenda-setting theory is definitely still relevant. There are still gatekeepers for social media, but users now have a lot more control over what they can and want to see #UTcommtheory
