#utcommtheory my favorite theory to learn about was Genderlect theory because I could relate to it the most and it showed how relationships in my life have revolves around this theory.
#utcommtheory I use communication accommodation when talking/ writing emails to teachers. I want to sound polite and proper so i’m sure to not use slang and try not to come off in a bad manner.
#utcommtheory A social location that’s shapes my experience is being a young girl in a small town. I was shown very little diversity but also the struggle of womanhood which made me want to branch out and see more.
#utcommtheory I grew up in a more feminine speech community because my only sibling is my sister and my mom stayed at home when we were younger but, I also gained masculine speech patterns from being a tomboy and doing most activities with my dad as a kid.
@dyslexia_joy yes!! this is me too because I feel like I have to carry the conversation because they give one word answers and no details. #utcommtheory
#utcommtheory The Agenda-Setting theory is still widely relevant especially in the age of social media. You can chose who to follow, but site algorithms still control what you see and what titles they use to sway people’s opinions. this leads to people’s engagement being biased
#utcommtheory a parasocial relationship I developed is with John Mulaney! I’ve watched his Netflix comedy specials and other TV shows such as Big Mouth. I would love to go to one of his comedy shows!
