My favorite theory this semester was definitely genderlect! It was really interesting to understand how men and women grow into different communication styles & it made me realize that I do communicate like a typical female, even after growing up with 3 brothers😂 #UTcommtheory
In Grease Danny loses face multiple times when he’s with Sandy, but the worst was when he first saw Sandy at school and completely lost his cool, so he tried to cover it up by being arrogant #UTCommTheory
@Bacci3175 Teaching little kids is so hard in general but i can’t imagine teaching swimming! Especially with kids who are just starting out, the terminology has to be challenging at first #UTCommTheory
I’ve practiced accommodation for another persons communication style on multiple occasions in interviews. I tend to talk more professional, use larger words and try to avoid using “like” or “umm” #UTCommTheory
@WenzingerEmma I honestly never had this realization till last summer when all of the protests were going on and I became more educated on racial inequalities, it was extremely eye opening #UTCommTheory
My family is middle class but being the youngest of 5 kids, money was tight. Now that I’m older, I still try to buy things on sale &really try to limit my spending in general which is different from many of my friends who have more help from their family financially #UTCommTheory
@taryn57628053 That sounds like every guy I know lol! I feel like there are times when I do that because I understand a sense of urgency in the conversation, I’m definitely on the feminine side the majority of the time! #UTCommTheory
Though I grew up with 3 brothers & 1 sister, I side more with the feminine speech community. I constantly use rapport talk to establish and maintain relationships with others and tend to be friends with women over men because I feel like they understand me better. #utcommtheory
@WenzingerEmma Omg yes this happens all the time! Makes me even more mad when I’m showing emotion when I’m ranting & they still don’t understand that it’s important to me so out of respect they should try & listen better! #UTCommTheory
@DelaneyJWhite1 This is so true, i think this is beneficial because there are so many different media cites that people use, so it kinda balances out in a way #utcommtheory
The agenda setting theory is definitely still relevant today. Even though we are able to choose who we follow, the media still tries to swing us one way or another #utcommtheory
I have developed a parasocial relationship with Maggie Rogers through her music. I feel like her lyrics are good for the soul and I love how she uses her media platform to promote voting & women’s rights #UTcommtheory
