Multiple informed sources told Iran International that on Monday, 27 July, an iron scaffold was erected in Alikhani Square, Isfahan. Together with the heavy security presence, this has sparked fears that the site is being prepared for the public execution of several protesters arrested during the January demonstrations in Alikhani square, Isfahan.

The Alikhani Square case involves 12 defendants who have been sentenced to death.

According to human rights reports, these young were arrested during the #Jan8_9 protests in Isfahan and allegedly subjected to severe torture to extract forced confessions. Reports also indicate that some of their family members were detained to increase pressure on them.

Ten are being held in solitary confinement in the political ward, denied fresh air and family visits. Their final family visits reportedly took place last week. There are growing fears that the authorities may carry out the executions in pairs.

Since a childhood accident, AmirHossein has lived with a disability affecting one of his hands.

AmirHossein Safari, one of the 11 defendants in the #AlikhaniSquare case, was arrested during the #Jan8_9 protests in Isfahan. According to human rights reports, he was subjected to severe torture to force a false confession.

AmirHossein had lost his father and became the man of the house, taking responsibility for supporting and caring for his family.
