@MojoRose1 @ModelAyshaMirza Until we address the underlying culture, we will continue to have problems making progress in any of these types of discussions. Until they learn basic scientific standards of evidence & apply it to mundane topics, they won't apply it to topics they deem of higher value.

@MojoRose1 @ModelAyshaMirza Really feel like the foundation of this overall issue is being missed. At least in America, roughly 90% of adults are taught via religion that simply making a "claim from authority" is a sufficient starting place for making an argument of fact.

@geostylegeo I disagree.
That the definition for delusion disorder carves out an exception for "cultural or religious practices" is a problem for me. Its basically arguing that at a certain popularity level, X behavior stops being an illness.
"Its a delusion,unless its big.Then its religion."

A 5 year old could debate me on cosmology, but arguments like "Santa Clause can't fly that far, so your story doesn't make sense." doesn't get you very far.

@SixandLaura @ENirenberg I have regularly played with the idea that Dunning Kruger has a certain value basd on the idea you're playing with here. But there is a certain threshold for entry. You need to know enough to be able 2 frame a coherent question while not being restrained by "this is how we do it"
