🧵Pond soundscapes are bursting with life and mysterious sounds!
Aquatic insects rub hard body parts together to attract mates and submerged plants release oxygen bubbles as they respire in the hot sun.

7. I have been truly overwhelmed by the natural beauty of The Gambia, and the kindness and generosity of its people.
Thank you Gambia, hopefully see you again soon!
Studying the effects of saltwater intrusion with the #Salbia team in the Gambia River🇬🇲, a thread 🧵
1. It was a real privilege to join the #Salbia team in The Gambia to deploy some @OpenAcoustics HydroMoths alongside their comprehensive sampling campaign (see below 4 more )
6. I have also been deploying some HydroMoths to listen in on the mysterious and yet to be described underwater sounds in the river.
Coupled with eDNA metabarcoding and local knowledge, we hope to learn lots about this understudied river.
