The only thing guaranteed in life if you don’t chase winning is losing. Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown or will you give into your fear of that abyss. Don’t ever let the devil creep inside your heart.
Said it before and I’ll say it again get these types of job postings OUT of coaching. It’s ridiculous this is such the norm. Oh you want them to be proficient in six different things + have coaching experience but you offer no money, no housing, no benefits. Bullcrap
@Baghurst It’s so easy for you to say “stop taking the job” but when there’s no protection for the worker then this is the only option if they want to get their foot in the door. It’s a catch 22 for young coaches that all these schools love taking advantage
@Baghurst Until rules are put in place that protect the 99% of other coaches who aren’t getting paid a ridiculous salary, these positions will continue to be created because the schools know young coaches have no other choice.
@VPArnoldCC There’s no rule requiring schools to adequately compensate athletic staff so schools take advantage of it for free labor and young coaches have to deal with it because there’s nothing else they can do. Quit it with your supply/demand hogwash
@VPArnoldCC This makes no sense. There is not a single person “demanding” a zero compensation job that also will work you into the ground. People do it because it’s the only way to give yourself a foot in the door on the off chance someone hires you in this profession
@Pet_Fries@cameronsoran No but for real. This looks like something you do with little leaguers to make practice a little more fun but also working on their footwork
@ChalkLast0712 I’ll counter that by saying OC you have control of the pace and flow which makes it easier. DC we have to react, sometimes at break neck speed to your playcalls to try and get our players in the best position possible. It’s not like a defense can run no huddle on an offense
@Coach_Rowland_ It’s wild. When I first started I worked at a poor juco and then a poor D3 school. Both gave me free housing and unlimited dining hall meals because they couldn’t pay me
@Coach___Cooper Absolutely and also nepotism isn’t even close to as prevalent in high school ball as college. Especially because most are teaching as well. College level dudes with no experience get hired cause their best bud got a head coaching job haha
@CoachGreenOL When I was first starting out I worked at the poorest jucos and D3 schools and I got completely free housing and unlimited meal plan as my compensation because the school couldn’t afford a salary
@CoachGreenOL They all have the funds. The reason they don’t do it is because there are zero rules requiring them to adequately compensate a coach. And don’t even begin to try and tell me they don’t have connections in housing to give a coach a dorm and meal plan
@Coach_Moore_BU Imagine like a car dealership posted a job for a “salesman position”. No salary, no commission. Needs to be proficient in sales tactics and computers. Full time hours. We would be like why would anyone do that? Yet this is totally normal in coaching
@CoachTM9@Coach_McClellan It’s ridiculous man. I hate that it’s just an accepted thing in the profession to work young coaches to death while paying them absolutely nothing just on the off chance you get hired by someone down the road
