@Mrs_Metters@silverpebble Lovely photo, it’s Candlesnuff fungus, Xylaria hypoxylon. It’s a fascinating little thing, rumoured to glow in the dark! https://t.co/PcoIzNb36X
16/8/21 Cumbria - A population of Monotropa hypopitys (Yellow Bird's Nest) was found at #HuttonRoof earlier in the year - a significant county record - so I just had to go and look at them. Many of the plants are "over" but there are still many coming through #wildflowerhour
How cool is this!! Yellow Water-lily (Nuphar lutea) is one of our native water lily species & a plant that’s usually so out of reach. I was lucky enough to see one by boat recently, its big, floating lily pads soaking up the afternoon sun - all ready to warm some frog bottoms 🐸
A corner of our wildflower meadow captured in a sunny break between the grey clouds☀️At 61 acres #WarrenFarmNR is a vital wildlife habitat & green space for people to unwind & enjoy. Can you spot the visitor on a nature walk? #natureforall#MeadowsMatter#mondaythoughts 💚🐝🚶🏽♀️🌼
Whether you are on yours hols or just doing your weekly shop hopefully this is a habitat accessible to most of us! It really is v. surprising what can be blooming in a car park! Share your finds for #WildflowerHour this Sunday 8-9pm using the hashtag #CarparkBotany 🚘🌿🌸
Coastal plants from saltmarsh - dune transitions at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe NNR earlier this week; Thrift, Common Sea-lavender, Knotted Pearlwort and Lesser Centaury. #wildflowerhour#CoastalPlants@NEEastMidlands
Too late for #wildflowerhour, but I saw this at Pagham the other day. Weirdly, I haven’t found an ID but it was at the top of the beach so it would have qualified for #CoastalPlants.
