The first $1T Physical AI company won’t build a robot.
Introducing @safesightinc, the AI infrastructure to safely operate existing machines.
When we filmed this last month, we had $20m of LOIs and POs for our first product, Saferide. Today we’re at $40m of LOIs and POs from retailers and operators in defense, auto, and construction.

@wademc402@safesightinc Yea maybe a rogue agent swarm destroys the power grid or bad guys use it to make a bio weapon, but we're using it to stop machines from killing people. Two sides of the same coin, we're just placing it right side up instead of seeing where it falls.

Its a novel architecture that enables any model the control any machine. The best productization of that given the current state of models and machines is stopping people from getting hit and killed by machines. Openpilot is a fantastic driving model, but unfortunately it doesnt stop for people, and comma built it in such a way that it only worked on the 854 SOM. What youre seeing is a combination of driving models, vision models to identify pedestrians, and depth estimation models to determine TTC.
I'm less interested in collecting and selling, more interested in enabling people to sell their data. Imagine a menu with 50 companies that want to buy your road facing footage or canbus data, offering various benefits in exchange, and you pick which you sell to, would that be something you're into?
Central point of this product is distributing technology that can eliminate millions of hospitalizations from pedestrian collisions, so data monetization is pretty far from my focus rn, but let me know your thoughts!
Really excellent post on the economics of robots by Anthropic. Cost is the critical input for adoption. (We also wrote about this in depth here: https://t.co/856d8Ry563)

Why?
Because it's a monoculture
The most extreme group think of any place on the planet
Show up to a dinner party and everyone is in tech
So what do they do? They start stack-ranking each other
And it's a totally ordered set: being founder of co $100B market cap > founder of co with $50B market cap > managing partner of tier 1 venture firm > hired CEO of $50B public co > founder of $10B co > etc etc
Pure toxicity that nerfs creativty
And then as a corollary, people are especially afraid to speak truth to power as everyone knows their place in
"The Hierarchy"
Reject this nonsense. Stay weird. Think independently. Be honest with yourself. Have fun.
Today, we're kicking off the first phase of the research preview for Model Hardware Standard (MHS): a new standard for AI agents to safely operate physical equipment in scientific research and advanced manufacturing.

@CameronMalloy_@tryStudioai Built a $100m/year dtc business on a flavor of this in the 2010s. It works. Value systems are the key; checkout Christopher Alexander.
@antopatrex1 Preach! This happens every technology cycle. Tech is invented -> a few vertical co's make $ -> infrastructure decouples the stack -> thousands of product co's make $ and the infrastructure co's make $$$.
Decoupling models from machines is the path to ubiquity for Physical AI.
We need a "dumb" control layer between models and machines.
That's why Safesight cannot be modified by the compute it's attached to.
Separating the control layer into dedicated hardware is the only viable path for models to safely operate in the physical world.
