Russia is losing on the battlefield and in the Black Sea. Its economy is in tatters. All it can do is bomb Ukrainian cities and civilians. This is why we must pass Russian sanctions and military aid to Ukraine. The House will vote on this in two weeks.
“Children are psychologically broken by being told their parents abandoned them.”
A new @ZDFheute article exposes Russia’s system of abducting and “re-educating” Ukrainian children.

Today’s attacks on humanitarian workers are war crimes. The world cannot accept this as normal. Too many aid workers have died like this around the world. Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council but it attacks UN and WCK vehicles in Kherson, Ukraine. While the aid workers survived unharmed, one resident died. This war needs to end now. The suffering needs to end now. We are an American-based NGO @realDonaldTrump@FLOTUS@SecRubio #ChefsForUkraine
❗️@SecRubio: "The Russians are losing five times as many soldiers a month as the Ukrainians are. Right now, the Ukrainian armed forces are the strongest, most powerful armed forces in all of Europe."
True. Ukraine’s military is battle-tested in a way no other army in Europe is.
Peace begins in the human heart, passes through relationships, takes root in neighborhoods and peripheries, and expands until it embraces the entire city and the world. Peace is built by promoting a culture that rejects violence, through daily gestures, education, and practical acts of justice. #PastoralVisit #Naples
Command post of the 20th Army Corps. Today, I met here with service members carrying out tasks to liberate the temporarily occupied territory of the Dnipro region, and presented them with state awards. Among them are foreign volunteers who are defending Ukraine.
We discussed with the warriors the operational situation along the line of defense and ways to strengthen our positions: additional funding for combat battalions, supplies, and drones of various types – UAVs and UGVs. In recent months, the effectiveness of our mid-range strikes has significantly increased, so it is important that our forces have sufficient means for strikes in operational depth. We will also explore ways to support this direction.
Thank you for your strength, resilience, and for defending our state.

👦 No peace deal without the children. That's what S.Res. 236 says, and it's the right call.
Thousands of Ukrainian children were forcibly taken from their families during the war. Some have been gone for years, separated from their parents, their language, their home.
Their return isn't a bonus condition to negotiate later. It's a baseline. S.Res. 236 puts that in writing: no final peace agreement before Ukraine's abducted children come home safely.
Accountability has to mean something.
This is where it starts.

❗️WHAT A HORROR! Russian drones hit a kindergarten in Sumy.
And this is happening while Putin is begging for a ceasefire so his pathetic parade in Moscow can go ahead safely.
My thoughts in @ForeignAffairs on Russia, the UN, the use of force - and why Putin, maybe, didn't have it so bad in the "rules-based international order" he so despised
The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for Joint Direct Attack Munitions – Extended Range and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $373.6 million.

⚡️ Ukraine drafts roadmap for return of children abducted by Russia.
In Kyiv, experts and officials gathered to create a roadmap ahead of the International Coalition meeting in Brussels on May 11.

Today marks 4 years of UNITED24🇺🇦
4 years of unity between Ukraine’s friends worldwide, sharing and protecting the same values.
“For more than 4 years, Ukraine has been the world’s most effective startup for freedom. And you are the board of directors.”
Happy anniversary 💙💛
Three months later, this is my last @washingtonpost story — delayed because nearly everyone involved in it was laid off. I am very grateful to newsroom friends who made sure it published anyway, and to brave Roman Mongold and his family for their time.

russia struck a bus in Dnipro, killing a person and injuring 11 more.
Deliberately targeting civilians as they go to work is a disgusting war crime. Something that only murderous psychopaths are capable of.
Help protect people from the crimes:

An important step of support by the United States – a $100 million contribution for the repair of the Chornobyl confinement, which was damaged by Russia’s strike on the night of February 14 last year. This was a deliberate attack by Russia on the Chornobyl plant, carried out with a drone equivalent to the Iranian “shahed”.
The confinement, shielding the remains of the Chornobyl plant, protects everyone from radiation threats. It was built through the efforts of an international coalition, and its restoration now requires more than €500 million.
The full safety of the confinement must be restored. We are working together with partners to achieve this, and every contribution brings us closer to the goal. Last Sunday, on the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, we agreed on cooperation with partners during the Chornobyl International Conference on Nuclear Safety and Recovery. Today, we have results. Thank you to the United States for its support!
@BrewerEricM@StrickerNonpro Maybe it's worth considering that neither the Obama, Trump, Biden, or Trump administration policies had more than a mild impact on Iran's view that nuclear weapons would grant them more power. And that there is nothing it can do to reduce sanctions without losing power.
