If you have time to binge watch during the lockdown, you could not do better than watch this French historical series (7 seasons!) set in a fictional French town during the World War II German occupation. It is on Amazon prime and Hulu.
@yoavgallant Give up. You cannot breathe life into a corpse. Bibi has transformed a once great liberal/right Democratic Party with people like Moshe Arens & Dan Meridor into a pack of hoodlums with no serious beliefs & morals, symbolized by Dudu Amsalem, Tally Gottlieb & May Golan.
@dillouz Bravo! A Likudnik with the common sense and courage to defy Bibiโs disgraceful attempt to stay in power a little longer. But what about Ben Gvir & Smotrich? The 10/7 commission? Efforts to destroy the independent judiciary? Youโre a smart, brave person. Break with Likud.
@yaakovkatz@ilangoldenberg Exactly. I maintain that squelching Jewish terrorism is, along with dealing with the Haredim, something the next government must deal with immediately. See: https://t.co/XXe98IZ4PU
The Palestinians have the good fortune of having Jews as their bรชte noir, while the Kurds must make do with Turks, Arabs, and Persians. Worse still, the Kurds sympathize with the Jews and vice versa. So they canโt be the object of affection for correct-thinking Westerners.
Simple questions:
Why do 5 million Palestinians have the "right" to a state, but not 40-60 million freedom-seeking #Kurds?
Why are there endless marches & protests for Palestinians, but not Kurds?
Why is the UN obsessed with Palestinians, but doesn't give a damn about Kurds?
@MeravMichaeli Terrorists attack/kill/kidnap innocent civilians for political purposes. Hamas did this to Israelis & the Hilltop Youth (on a much smaller scale) are doing so to Palestinians now. Crushing Jewish terrorism is one of 2 challenges for the next govt: https://t.co/XXe98IZ4PU
Tonight is my last night in Glasgow.
It is where I was born. It is where I spent my childhood, where I became a Bar Mitzvah, and where much of my understanding of myself was formed.
Mostly because of my parents, Scotland has always been the constant. No matter where I happened to be living, whether London, Hong Kong, or elsewhere, there was always an assumption that Scotland would be there. It was the place I returned to when life became complicated, uncertain, or challenging. My parents were here. It was familiar. It was home.
Tomorrow, I leave the UK and make Aliyah to Israel.
Over the past few years, I have spent a great deal of time writing, researching, and speaking about Jewish identity, Jewish peoplehood, Jewish indigeneity, and Jewish self-determination. In many ways, that journey led me here. Not because I stopped being British, but because I came to understand more deeply what it means to be Jewish.
Tomorrow I will become an Israeli citizen. I leave with great love for the life my parents gave me here and excitement about the chapter that lies ahead.
Scotland will always be where I am from.
But tomorrow, I go home.
@YairGolan1 The next government must face two immediate problems: integrating the Haredim and establishing law and order in Judea and Samaria. Unless Ben Gvir and Smotrich are in the opposition the latter wonโt happen. See: https://t.co/XXe98IZ4PU
@HeTows Interesting. Count me among those who want the Haredi problem dealt with at any price. Even the Dems will have a hard time reviving the peace process while the Haredi challenge just wonโt go away. Bennett, not Eisenkot, has shown real awareness of this. https://t.co/XXe98IZ4PU
@Astra48163094@marklevinshow He has cut all his ties to the MB and recognizes Israel as a Jewish state and doesnโt want to change that. He just wants a fairer deal for his constituents. Is that so bad? Last time I heard, Israel was a democracy with equal rights for all its citizens.
@Astra48163094@marklevinshow Your analytical acuity is less than obvious here. Abbas is not a Jihadistand not likely to be in an alternative government anyway. Please try to stick to the facts.
@Abu_Salah9 Poor Itamar! Now heโll have to cancel his planned trip to Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone and receive the gift of the gab in preparation for the upcoming election campaign. We actually now have something to thank Ireland for!
My late father escaped the Soviet Union in 1974 at age 50, leaving everything behind. He arrived in Israel with almost nothing.
He never called himself a refugee or demanded special agencies and revenge. At 50, he learned Hebrew and built a new life through hard work.
In 1948, Palestinian Arabs displaced just a few kilometers โ no new language needed โ were turned into a permanent refugee population via UNRWA.
Meanwhile, ~850,000 Jews were expelled from Arab countries. Most were absorbed by Israel (along with immigrants like my father), with no perpetual refugee status.
Resilience builds nations. Perpetual grievance doesnโt.
@LionsOfZion_ORG Erdogan is one of very few world leaders that make Bibi look OK. That is hardly a ringing recommendation, however! Israel, can do,better than that!
@Shlomo381989 A totally irresponsible and misleading add. Plays on an atavistic hatred of the โotherโ -in this case Israeli Arabs. Tibi is in no way shape or form commanding Israeli politicians. Unlike Mahmoud Abbas, heโs something of an untouchable. Hardly the Mastermind
depicted here.
