I stared at this photo for a long time, imagining what life was like for these two elderly men, Nadi and Ali Maarouf, during their final days. How did they spend their last moments? How did they endure the physical and psychological abuse they were subjected to? How did they cope with being used as human shields and as test subjects in front of ambushes and explosive devices, all to protect the lives of their dogs, which seem to be considered more valuable to them than Palestinian lives in Gaza?!

And after all of that, they publish these photos with such blatant arrogance and pride. They know very well that no one will hold them accountable, and they know that this world, accustomed to silence, will simply watch.
