Our teams of councillors and members are out campaigning, and talking with residents, with @JeffSmithetc every week. Rain or shine, we take on casework, support residents, and help make all our communities better places to live across all of Chorlton, Didsbury and Withington.🌹
As we celebrate Volunteers' Week, here is a great example of residents doing something for their community.

Earlier in the week it was great to share the progress of our Greater Manchester - Australia partnership.. Part of the long term work Andy & I have been leading to bring jobs and investment into Greater Manchester.
In 2025/26, we saw record 901 new affordable homes built in Manchester with new affordable homes in 23 out of 32 wards, including in city centre.
Also had confirmation that housing register has reduced by 1,500 households in last 6 months. Lots to do, but progress being made.🏡
Good news in case you missed it.
Figures soon to be released will show that Makerfield’s air quality is now meeting legal standards.
So no Clean Air Zone - not now, not ever!

That’s what delivering on our clean power mission looks like.
We are turning the tide on the housing crisis - Last year we built more council, social and genuinely affordable homes than we’ve done in 25 years.
Every Mancunian deserves a good quality home that they can afford.
We’ve changed the law to protect domestic abuse survivors from homelessness and overhauled right to buy so councils can build again. This is a new era of social housing that could only happen under a Labour government.

Thanks @JoanneGSUsdaw, @AndreaEganGS and @musiciansunion & all the unions for attending.
We are on track to deliver our ambitious housing strategy in #Manchester with another record year in 2025/2026, including 439 new homes for social rent.
Loads still to do, but we will keep up the fight and reaffirm our commitment for a social housing revolution in Manchester.🏡
Brilliant afternoon for @andy4makerfield at the Trade Union rally in Ashton-in-Makerfield, and then a positive session on the doorsteps chatting to lots of wonderful people - plenty of support and posters up for Andy, and awareness of how close this by-election could be.🌹
