I think this may be the only TED talk that I've ever watched in its entirety and also thought the speaker and the talk were brilliant.
This is also a perfect way of explaining how pseudo experts ushered in the culture that allowed a fake pandemic to occur.
@ErwanLeCorre Yes, the few time's I've done meditation on purpose (longer ones 40 min+), it was guided meditations with lots of unexpected insights and inner understandings. If I just "sit and relax" those tend to be 8-10min long and my mind invariably darts into many random directions.
@ErwanLeCorre I try to in the few months I can, but I live in a part of the world where winter lasts a good long while and exposing skin at -15-20C is a bit rough :D As is "grounding barefoot on the soil" is ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ

@seagertp@hubermanlab are there records of how much exposure reaches benefits for us? I manage to walk in a forest perhaps 2-3 hours per week during a weekend hike. Perhaps it's not enough!
@lauramatsue I have a phone with no data and no app (a true dumbphone). If I have to wait for anything anywhere, I practice a quick body scan meditation. I miss nothing. I am not bored ever.
You can cure brain rot very quickly if you take these actions:
1. Use an app blocker to block social media or any addictive apps all hours of the day and only allow yourself access for 15 minute intervals.
2. Never use social media or addictive apps first thing in the morning or right before bed
3. Do not use social media or your phone while eating, waiting for something, or doing another task. Learn to be fully present for the task. Learn to enjoy being bored. These in-between moments help your brain recalibrate and process information.
4. Read for minimum 1 hour a day.
5. Find other hobbies and activities that involve you being outside in nature or socializing with others
6. Learn to dislike the feeling of having the attention span of a goldfish, having a limited vocabulary, and being a shallow, distractible person. It is not a good feeling.
Realize that everything you want in life that is valuable and worth living for- purpose, better relationships, creating something meaningful to offer the world, inspiration, creativity- depends on you having an attention span and the ability to focus and protect it at all costs.
@ErwanLeCorre@TruxClimb@billmoyers4 Interesting!! I once had a therapist massage/open up my ribcage... the next day I was covered with superficial bruises (as expected) that disappeared quickly, but the breathing and feeling, indescribable. I was feeling taller and lighter. Before, I was a 2x4 plank in comparison!
