The "return to office" push has absolutely nothing to do with Collaboration or Culture. It's entirely about commercial real estate leases and middle managers realizing their entire job consists of walking around looking at people's monitors.
Boomers be like, “Just walk into the office and ask for a job.”
The office: locked
The recruiter: AI
The interview: automated
The job posting: fake
The rejection email: instant
Your data: sold
The concept of being “left behind” if you don’t use AI when in reality the AI bubble will burst eventually and the people who have had their brains smoothed out by AI are the ones who won’t know how to function in society anymore
I genuinely think a lot of millennials are reaching the same conclusion at the same time.
We grew up watching technology make life better every year. Cell phones. iPods. Smartphones. An app for everything. It felt like the future was arriving right in front of us, and we couldn’t wait for what came next.
Then somewhere along the way, it changed.
Everything became a subscription. Social media became algorithms. Every day feels like another once-in-a-lifetime event. The things that were supposed to save us time somehow ended up demanding more of our attention than ever.
We were sold convenience.
What we got was a world that feels faster, louder, more expensive, and somehow less human.
And that’s why so many people I know dream about a completely different life now. Not more technology. Not more optimization.
Just a quiet job, a flip phone, a small town, and a place where life feels real again.
AI seems smart when you ask it about things you know nothing about, but once you start asking it about topics you are actually an expert in, you realize it is just commoditized, polished, and amplified mediocrity.
Please stop. I don’t want an AI summary of my Google search. I don’t want an AI summary of the text message from my friend at work. I don’t want an AI summary of the email I’m about to read. Please just stop.
AI is so popular because it gives uncreative people the illusion that they are creative. It lets them skip right to the part where they get validation. It’s not only parasitic, but extremely narcissistic.
Anyone else have AI fatigue? So sick of hearing about it. I don’t need it to write me an email or answer my customer service call. Use it to cure cancer and then get it out of my face.
