@stephanpastis Egremont (near the Lake District) in England. Backend (Fall) is when the Crab Fair is on. After a hard day's book promotion can relax by taking part in the Gurning Competition afterwards ( https://t.co/onRnakgojt )
@AaronBastani Rather than Old English, get involved with your local Dialect Society. A quick plug for: https://t.co/7vZkzRLIFF
Other counties have active Societies and Yorkshire are hosting this year's National Dialect Festival in October.
Recent riverside walk from Great Clifton to Workington via Camerton & Barepot alongside River Derwent.
Great Clifton Coal Mine operated from 17th century to mid 20th century. There are a few interesting features in the village that recall the industrial history.

#162: The Grasmere Dialect Plays
...in which we visit springtime Allan Bank to explore the forgotten phenomena of the Grasmere dialect plays – celebrations of Westmorland dialect and life that put Lakeland on the national cultural map for nearly 40 years.
I really need to read more Middle English before Werwulf comes out but until then I love listening to songs in Middle English. If you’re interested in medieval ballads or Old English prayers Muco always does beautiful renditions.
Everyone should check out his IG: bookofvoices
There is an alternative theory for the origins of the name Glasgow; again, it is Brittonic/Cumbric in origin. “Glas-“ is from the Cumbric “Cles” which is a contraction of the Latin “ecclesia” (Church), meaning not a building (early Medieval Latin “casa”), but “community/diocese” in the broader sense. The 2nd part “-gow” from Cumbric “chu”, dear/beloved. Which would give Glasgow the meaning of “Beloved/Dear Church” (ie: Christian community or diocese). The kingdom of Alt Clut (Rock of the Clyde, ie: Dumbarton), and its successor Ystrad Clut (Strathclyde) had bishops long before King David I established “Glasgow” as the see at the present cathedral site, just as he re-ordered the other ancient dioceses of Scotland. It is likely that Govan was the ecclesiastical see for the kingdom of Strathclyde before it was moved to the present site in the 12thC. Interestingly, the boundaries of the medieval diocese of Glasgow retained the boundaries of the old kingdom of Strathclyde long after it had been absorbed into the Scottish kingdom.
@SimoninSuffolk There's the 12 Apostles Stone Circle just outside of Dumfries, and Striding Arches ar Moniaive. Red Kite at Parton viewpoint on Loch Ken. Annan Distillery for coffee and wander by yhe Waterfoot to the remains of the Solway Viaduct.

Psalm 50 in Aramaic by Trio Mandili — the language of Jesus. Haunting Miserere (Psalm 51 in Western Bibles).

Translation from Aramaic down in the comments.
The town of Aspatria being Ash of St Patrick.
Patrick = Patria (Roman style) so AshPatria.
Cumbrian sound for Ash as Esh and shorten Patria to Patree.
Say it quickly and you get the proper Cumbrian way to pronounce Aspatria as Spaytree.
I thought I'd do the Cumbrian connection for this St Patrick's Day with a picture of St Patricks Holy Well with the Snowdrops in St Kintigern Church in Aspatria.
