It has been long since we last met as National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED). I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of you; the Fourth Estate for your unwavering support to our cause of liberating this nation. We thank you.

We invited you to communicate majorly three important things namely; the party’s legal status, unveil the National Executive Committee (NEC) members, and the prospective roadmap.
THE PARTY’S LEGAL STATUS

Dear Ugandans, you will allow me not to delve into the matrix of how we have been operating under tension and why it has taken all this long (one and a half years) without getting this certificate; nevertheless, we have eventually got it.

The NEED Party has officially transitioned from the Peoples United Movement (PUM) to the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED). Allow me, ladies and gentlemen, to show you our certificate.

We would like therefore to officially announce that we are a fully-fledged political party. Today, we answer the questions of why we have not been participating in the previous elections — that is, the by-elections and the Special Interest Group elections. Upon this background, we would like to commit ourselves to participating in all elections and other political-related matters aimed at transforming the politics of this country and liberating this nation.

Our logo as NEED is a hand holding maize corn — a symbol of an agricultural country as the mainstream of wealth and food security for Ugandans — with the word NEED and the slogan “Money in Your Pocket.” The colors are black and white, symbolizing our commitment to transparency and accountability.

Party’s Roadmap
On 15th July 2025, NEED will unveil the grand plan that will be followed as the country prepares for general elections. We shall announce the Election Steering Committee and the roadmap for nominations of candidates. For democratic purposes and transparency, we announce that all elective positions are open and contestable by all eligible NEED Members — including the position of the Presidential Flag Bearer.

As I conclude, we as the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue look forward to working with other forces of change in liberating our nation.

It has come to our attention as leadership of NEED that Odaka Asuman Marijan (@odakaa ) (whose photo is availed) is allegedly going around extorting funds from prospective candidates, promising them party flag/cards and other logistical support during elections from the party.

NEED Party strongly disassociates itself from that masquerader — he DOES NOT in any way represent the actions and inactions of NEED. The public is urged to exercise caution, as the party bears no liability for his actions. Please report any suspicious activity to the NEED Party’s Head Office or to local authorities.

NEED Party Officially Distances Itself from Mr. Odaka Asuman Over False Representation

During a press conference held today at the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) Party Headquarters, the National Spokesperson, Ssaalongo Matovu Moses, formally announced that the party has disassociated itself from Mr. Odaka Asuman on grounds of impersonation and misrepresentation of the party’s authority.

It has come to the attention of the party leadership that Mr. Odaka has been masquerading as an official NEED representative, falsely promising party tickets to individuals in exchange for money.

The party categorically states that such actions are unauthorized, illegal, and go against the core values and procedures of the NEED Party.

Ssaalongo Matovu emphasized that the NEED Party has only recently received its official certificate of registration, and as such, has not yet issued any political road map or commenced internal candidate endorsement processes.

Any promises or transactions made in the name of the party are therefore null, void, and fraudulent.

During the same press briefing, the Office of the Publicity Secretary officially unveiled the party’s registration certificate to the public.

It was also announced that the official political road map will be released by the 15th of July 2025.

Importantly, the party declared that all positions are open for elections, including the Presidential Flag Bearer position.

The NEED Party extended a cordial invitation to all aspiring candidates and change-seeking forces to participate in the upcoming democratic processes as part of its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and empowerment.

The NEED Party remains firmly committed to restoring dignity in Uganda’s political leadership and calls upon the public to be vigilant and report any cases of impersonation or fraud.
