RATIONALISATION OF GOV'T EXPENDITURE:
The PSST Dr @rggoobi has said that effective next FY 2026/27, @GovUganda will not spend money on organising public functions (public holidays) including: Women's day,Labour day,Independence day etc). He says money will only be spent on the few religious functions.
According to Dr.Ggoobi,H.E the President @KagutaMuseveni will address Ugandans on Radio and Television from State House, adding that the money saved will be used to finance the priorities of Gov't (ATMS & Enablers).
This is sensationalism. Why bundle two countries? Uganda has only 8 confirmed cases all arising from DRC national who had sought treatment in Uganda. So far, no Ugandan has died of Ebola! You can do better journalism!
BREAKING: The Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda have reported 263 confirmed Ebola cases and 43 deaths as of May 30, according to Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya.

Church of Uganda to Hold Scientific National Martyrs’ Day Celebrations
28.05.2026: The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, yesterday visited the Uganda Martyrs’ Anglican Site Namugongo to assess the readiness of Uganda Christian University to host this year’s Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrations.
Uganda Christian University was mandated by the House of Bishops to organize this year’s celebrations on behalf of Church of Uganda.
Since assuming this responsibility, the University has undertaken significant improvements at the site in several key areas: security and safety, beautification, branding, improving sanitation and water supply among others.
Among the notable developments are the construction and renovation of modern toilet facilities to take care of the thousands of pilgrims, establishment of walkways, restoration of the green environment, reconstruction of sections of the collapsed perimeter wall to enhance security, drilling and construction of a water solar powered supply system, renovation of several buildings at the site and general clean-up of the site.
However, in consideration of the current public health circumstances, this year’s Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrations will be conducted scientifically and in accordance with the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The celebrations will therefore be organized as follows:
* The National Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrations will be held at the Uganda Martyrs’ Anglican Site Namugongo strictly by invitation. Attendance at the main service will be limited in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.
* All Dioceses are encouraged to commemorate Martyrs’ Day in their respective Parishes across the Province.
* The official Martyrs’ Day liturgy will be shared through the Diocesan Secretaries in due course.
The Archbishop has further assigned Uganda Christian University to continue organizing this year’s scientific celebrations and also prepare to coordinate next year’s Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrations. The next cluster of organizers will be announced during next year’s celebrations.
Church of Uganda encourages all Christians and members of the public to continue observing the Ministry of Health SOPs for the safety and well-being of all.

This is #Uganda’s truth about #Ebola
A Congolese national continues to undergo treatment after testing positive.
She was linked to the first case of a Congolese man who’d travelled to the country for treatment, died and was confirmed to have had the virus.
His body was sent back to the DRC.
Health workers and others who interacted with the two cases were traced and are now in isolation- being monitored.
None of them has so far tested positive for Ebola.
There are no local infections.
Meaning, no Ugandan or person living in Uganda has Ebola.
That’s our truth.
Currently there is no case of Ebola originating from Uganda. But our neighbour DRC is facing this health challenge. Together, let us do our best to prevent #Ebola by sharing factual information, not spreading fear. @MinofHealthUG
@FoxNews The American Doctor was in the DRC which is the country west of Uganda. He did not treat any ebola patients in Uganda. There is currently no outbreak on Ugandan territory. Please make this clarification.
Big appreciation to the Ministry of Health for pulling through with @yinu_ircu & @irc_uganda to push community awareness on Ebola, HIV, TB, & malaria. YINU is locked in for the mission, mobilizing communities, spreading the right information, & showing up for a healthy Nation.
