Anyone found to have endorsed antisemitic comments is unfit to be a police officer.

PC Mohammed Nizam has been dismissed by the Metropolitan Police after admitting to a disciplinary panel that he engaged positively with antisemitic posts on social media.

PC Nizam reportedly referred to London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan as a “f***ing w***stain” in response to a post commemorating the brutal 7th October Hamas attack on Israel. He also challenged a post which said Hamas was behind the attack, saying “even the IDF scum don’t think Hamas did it.”

Material ‘liked’ by PC Nizam included a post stating that Jews “play the Holocaust card to justify Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza,” and another referencing the “Zionist-controlled mass media.”

He also reposted content claiming that “Israel controls all the Muslim countries but Gaza,” and published a post calling for Gaza’s streets to be “drenched with the blood of the Israeli Occupation Forces.”

The panel reportedly concluded that PC Nizam had violated police standards on equality and diversity, amounting to gross misconduct.

PC Nizam is understood to have accepted his conduct, and expressed regret for his comments.

These revelations are abhorrent from an individual whose job is to protect members of the public.

British Jews have long suffered two-tier policing that sees antisemitic crime go unpunished. Faith in the police has dropped to its lowest level since our polling began, with only 14% of British Jews believing that the police do enough to protect them.

How are Jewish people supposed to trust the police and feel safe in their communities if serving officers themselves are found to have endorsed material of this kind?

We welcome the Met’s decisive action in this case. It must ensure that antisemitism has no place in its ranks.

It would not be true for around 7 million Jews living as a minority amongst 100 million+ Arab Muslims. The approximately 3.5million Jewish women would lose the rights of absolute equality as would LGBTQ people.
