Just walked into Walmart ready to drop $250 I honestly couldn’t afford on a portable AC for my mobile home. While I’m standing there pricing a little 5,000 BTU unit, my second boss calls me. I told her what I was doing… and her husband immediately jumps on the phone: “Nope. Save your money. I’ve got one for you.” (They’re closing on a house with central air, so they don’t need it anymore.) I asked what he wanted for it. His reply? “Just come pick it up.” Y’all… I brought home a $500, 8,000 BTU LG that’s so cold it’s got me shivering in my living room right now. LG really does stand for “Life is Good.” Thank You Lord for showing up in the middle of a stressful season and reminding me that You see me.

@chickensith@RollingStone@jondelarroz Hating for the clicks and welfare checks.
But from the sound of it, I think the movie is going to surprise a lot of people and I wouldn't be surprised if it does make back it's money.
In 2005, after two British Special Air Service operators were captured in Iraq and approval for a rescue was refused, a lieutenant colonel allegedly disobeyed orders and sent about 20 SAS personnel to retrieve them. When the government pushed back, the entire Special Air Service reportedly threatened to resign en masse.
One of the coolest things I’ve learned at Normandy is about Lt. Col. Robert “Bull” Wolverton, commander of 3rd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, who said to his men before their jump 🪂:
Men, I am not a religious man and I don't know your feelings in this matter, but I am going to ask you to pray with me for the success of the mission before us.
And while we pray, let us get on our knees and not look down but up with faces raised to the sky so that we can see God and ask his blessing in what we are about to do.
God almighty, in a few short hours we will be in battle with the enemy.
We do not join the battle afraid.
We do not ask favors or indulgence but ask that, if You will, use us as your instrument for the right and an aid in returning peace to the world.
We do not know or seek what our fate will be.
We ask only this, that if die we must, that we die as men would die, without complaining, without pleading and safe in the feeling that we have done our best for what we believed was right.
Oh Lord, protect our loved ones and be near us in the fire ahead and with us now as we pray to you.

I prefer to think that dino-men would look less like people you'd push down at the beach and kick sand in their faces and more like people who'd kick holes in the sides of your house and tear your couch apart with their bare hands.
The short answer to why I wrote FIRST BLOOD: as a Penn State student, during anti-war riots, I met students returning from Vietnam w/PTSD. I decided to write a novel about a returning Vietnam veteran who brings the war to America. My website has more info.
