Informing, Advocating, and Engaging youth to embrace healthier lifestyles and champion a drug and alcohol-free society. #YouthHealth#DrugFree#AlcoholFree
A family outing shouldn't be a child's first encounter with alcohol or shisha.
Flavours, branding, influencers & online marketing are making these products look normal and attractive to young people.
It's time to strengthen regulation, promote awareness & protect them.
Road safety needs more than talk, it needs action.
Aligned with the Global Plan for Road Safety, reducing crashes by 50% by 2030 speaks directly to SDG 3: protecting lives and well-being. Every prevented crash means a life saved.
Shared lessons on building sustainable coalitions
When addressing tobacco use and addiction, consistent follow-up with those affected is crucial. Regular check-ins provide motivation and support for individuals on their journey to quit.
At the same time, we must continue exposing the tobacco industry’s tactics and advocate for progressive taxation to reduce the accessibility of these deadly products, especially to young people.

The story of the hen and the cock, both believing they won’t be eaten because of the tasks they perform reminds us of shared responsibility.
If we think the SDGs are only for governments & not individuals, the future will challenge us all.

@marienanyanzi from @twaweza_uganda shares data on the SDGs survey in Uganda, highlighting challenges Ugandans face within their households, including unemployment, limited access to health services, and the rising cost of living.
Findings show that hunger is more prevalent in rural communities, especially in Northern Uganda, compared to urban areas like Kampala.
Among young people, social media remains the main source of information, followed by radio and word of mouth.
This is currently happening during the Local Leaders Engagement on Sustainable Development Goals & Citizen-Generated Data.

As @BagumaRT highlights, real-life stories are powerful. What may seem like a harmless trend, such as helping an elder light a cigarette can quickly lead to initiation and, eventually, nicotine addiction.
In his session, our coordinator @BagumaRT shares insights on crafting impactful advocacy messages for tobacco tax campaigns. By combining evidence with storytelling, advocates can better influence policymakers and the public.
A unified message from the @UgCancerSociety training: raising tobacco excise taxes to 75% is essential for safeguarding public health.

More on Ssezibwa falls!
The Sezibwa falls are characterized by several rocks with sharp edges and a large pool below. From the falls, the river Ssezibwa flows all the way to Lake Kyoga.

Tobacco tax systems that attempt to make tobacco products more affordable for low-income people serve to increase health inequities and disproportionately place a higher burden of health and economic costs on the poor.
We can help our people from devastating effects of tobacco use through progressively increasing tobacco taxes enabling young people not to access the industry's products.

Highlights from the Human Rights & SDG 3 Workshop
Today's presentations featured insights from various working groups, CSOs, media, youth, women, and policymakers, ĝaddressing key health concerns, including:
💬The rising mental health burden linked to alcohol abuse
💬Access to affordable and quality sexual and reproductive health services
💬Inclusive health services for persons with disabilities
💬Identification of the most pressing health challenges within communities
💬Breaking stigma and supporting persons living with HIV/AIDS
All discussions were focused on generating sustainable solutions to health-related challenges from diverse stakeholder perspectives.
Had an enlightening 2-day workshop by @UNAUGANDA on the intersection of SDG 3 (Good Health & Wellbeing) and Human Rights. A need for inclusive policy-making and accountability in service delivery was emphasised. Also had the chance to craft project demos on health topics.
While presenting on SDG 3 and the Right to Health, Moses Talibita (@unhco ) emphasized that health is not a gift- it's an entitlement.
He stressed that mothers have a right to maternity leave and supportive conditions for breastfeeding, boldly stating, "No mother should die while giving life."
He called on stakeholders to prioritize health financing and insurance, highlighting the role of universal access, equity, and system resilience within the 2030 Agenda.
Health is the foundation of sustainable development.
