The story of the Uganda Martyrs is a timeless reminder that enduring values, unwavering faith, and strength of character can leave a legacy that outlives generations.
From the grounds of Munyonyo, where many began their final journey, to Namugongo, where they paid the ultimate price for their faith, the Uganda Martyrs left behind a lasting example of conviction, hope, and sacrifice.
Today, we remember their courage, honor their steadfast belief, and celebrate the legacy they entrusted to future generations.
As we mark this day, may we carry a prayer in our hearts and draw inspiration from their unwavering commitment to what they believed was right.

Very worrying!
The recent draft Uganda Alcohol Status Report 2026 reveals a growing concern, with women increasingly facing the health and social effects linked to rising alcohol consumption levels in some regions, even though men still account for the highest overall intake.
@BagumaRT shares how smoking was introduced to him at a young age. Today, the tobacco industry continues targeting young people with products disguised as pens and other trendy devices.
The danger has changed its appearance. The intention hasn’t. #TaxTobaccoSavesLivesUG
The tobacco industry claims higher tobacco taxes increase illicit trade, cause unemployment, and reduce revenue. Evidence shows the opposite. Tobacco taxation saves lives, reduces tobacco use, and raises government revenue.
@TalibitaM shares more on this.

A mother is a warrior, carrying strength in silence, love in sacrifice, and hope even in the hardest moments.
Today, we celebrate all mothers whose care continues to heal homes, shape communities, and inspire generations. Happy Mother’s Day.
Happy Birthday @BagumaRT 🎉
A true communicator and mentor to many, thank you for keeping the torch burning in the fight for better health policies in Uganda and beyond. Your voice and dedication continue to inspire. Wishing you a great year ahead!
You should be concerned about the lengths the tobacco industry will go to push its products, including using influencers to spread misinformation. There has never been a safer or less harmful form of tobacco use.
Stay cautious.
More and more young people are being targeted by the tobacco industry through subtle but powerful channels, online shopping platforms, music videos, and social media content that glamorizes smoking and the use of so-called “safer” alternatives like e-cigarettes.
These influences are shaping perceptions and increasing vulnerability among youth. This transpired recently while engaging with young people aimed at creating meaningful awareness on why tobacco taxation is critical to students.

Allowing the tobacco industry into social activities or corporate social responsibility spaces must be firmly restricted & enforced. These are not acts of goodwill they are calculated tactics to market their products and draw more people into tobacco use.

@unhco, alongside key stakeholders, has launched the Uganda Tobacco Industry Interference Index 2025. @BagumaRT has emphasized the need to tax tobacco products and urged collective responsibility in enforcement. The loss of 5,284 lives, largely due to tobacco, is deeply alarming.
"We cannot afford to tire in the fight against tobacco use, the soul of Uganda lies in its young people.
The industry deliberately invests in misinformation, disinformation, and product engineering to entice youth, while interfering with tax policy and misusing corporate social responsibility.
We must confront these tactics head-on, because in doing so, we are protecting the future of our nation".
