Even before launching the Walk. Talk. Connect. initiative, I had walked with Miria on a few occasions.

During my upbringing, I observed my parents visit the elderly, a practice I learned from them. In recent years, as I have made it a habit to visit and engage with older individuals – some for sit downs and others for walks.

Today, I had the privilege of walking with Miria, simply to catch up with her and inquire about her well-being. Our conversations spanned various topics such as family, Ugandan and African politics, women's rights, aging, health, and more.

August is also her birthday month. She turns 71 this year. I took the opportunity to wish her an early happy birthday.

Today day, it was an honor for me to gift Miria a copy of my book, “Facing Mountains”. I am grateful for her support in helping me face several mountains in my life.
