The breadth of support for the Right to Worship Act is deeply humbling. So many groups recognize the horrifying reality that the threat to the freedom to worship is not unique to any one faith or congregation. Our Right to Worship Act is for everyone, and I'm proud to stand with such a broad coalition of faith leaders united behind this essential legislation.
I held a press conference today with @RepTomSuozzi and numerous religious organizations supporting the ‘Right to Worship Act.’
Today, a right as sacred as the right to worship is only as durable as the government’s willingness or ability to enforce it. This bill closes the dependency on prosecutors by putting real recourses directly in the hands of the victims of intentional and disruptive harassment and intimidation.
Thank you to Congressman Suozzi for his partnership on this bill. Now, let’s get it passed!
“Religious freedom is not an abstract constitutional principle to those of us who live our faith every day. It is personal. It means being able to pray, in a synagogue without fear. Religious liberty cannot exist only on paper. It must exist in practice. Because the freedom to worship means very little without the freedom to worship without fear.”
Rabbi @YCharner speaking at a press conference today on Capitol Hill, alongside @RepTomSuozzi, @RepKnott and other faith groups, calling for the passage of the bipartisan Right to Worship Act.
In April, @RepMikeLawler and I introduced a bipartisan resolution condemning antisemitic rhetoric from online personalities like Hasan Piker and Candace Owens. Piker just proved exactly why we need it.
Telling millions of Americans that Jews who support the US-Israel relationship bring violence on themselves is sick, wrong, and straight out of the Nazi playbook. Republican leadership should to bring our resolution to the floor for a vote next week!
I’m honored to be named Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa.
At a moment of enormous change across the region, I’ll work to strengthen America’s relationships with Israel and our Gulf allies, expand regional peace, advance American diplomacy, and ensure our foreign policy is grounded in strength, security, and reality. I’m ready to get to work.
Statement of Agudath Israel of America on House Passage of Permanent Daylight Saving Time
Today the U. S. House of Representatives passed the Sunshine Protection Act by a wide majority. Agudath Israel of America and its constituents understand the popular desire to “lock the clock.” We are concerned, however, that by choosing permanent daylight saving time (DST) for the entire country it will put children at risk and affect our religious practices.
Permanent DST would mean sunrises after 9 am in some parts of the country for weeks in the winter thereby causing many of America's schoolchildren to head for school - by foot, by bicycle, or by bus - in the pre-sunrise darkness amd putting them at increased risk.
For the Orthodox Jewish community, an unintended, yet compelling, consequence of such legislation is the effect it will have on our fundamental religious practices. In Jewish law, morning prayers, and the rituals associated with them, must be recited no earlier than at specified times. The later sunrise occurs; the later synagogue services must begin. The extension of DST will create an extreme hardship on observant Jews. It would be extraordinarily difficult - if not impossible - to arrive on time for a job and will effect the start time of our schools.
The last time this happened in the 1970's the popularity of the measure dropped dramatically once Americans experienced one dark winter and Congress had to reverse itself within a year.
We are hopeful that the Senate will consider all of the effects of DST and compare them to the effects of permanent standard time or maintaining the status quo before rushing into this major change.
While the House passed a bill today to make daylight saving time permanent we are hopeful that the Senate will have a robust discussion on the merits and consider our serious concerns of cold dark winter mornings on child safety and the effect of DST on our religious practices.

It was an honor to attend the grand opening of @AgudahNews new office in DC.
The advocacy work of Agudath Israel of America has helped hundreds of thousands of families across the country, and this new office will further strengthen those efforts for years to come.
Since October 7th, Jews in America have faced an unprecedented surge in antisemitism: Jewish students targeted on campuses, synagogues vandalized, people attacked in the streets simply for their faith. That is not who we are as a nation. We unequivocally condemn antisemitism in all its forms. Every American deserves to live their faith freely, and that is worth fighting for. This is why @SenJackyRosen and I introduced the Jewish American Security Act. Read more ⬇️

From social media to houses of worship, we’ve seen how hate manifests into real-world violence. As the third Jewish woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, I've been particularly attuned to the epidemic of antisemitism, as Jewish Americans are being targeted, attacked, and killed at skyrocketing levels simply because of who they are.
This alarming trend demands a comprehensive, bipartisan approach that addresses both the seeds and the impacts of this vile hatred.
I’m proud to introduce the bipartisan Jewish American Security Act with @SenatorLankford to make sweeping changes to strengthen efforts and fight antisemitism at the federal level.
Agudath Israel of America applauds @GovKathyHochul for publicly supporting the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit and New York families.
As @GovKathyHochul correctly highlighted, the new tax credit has great potential to help all NY students whether they attend private or public school. Opting in allows NYS to retain some of the billions of dollars in NY taxpayer money that would have flowed to the federal government or donated to scholarship organizations in other states.

It was an honor for @AgudahNews to join other Jewish leaders at the @WhiteHouse today to thank @POTUS
It was very fitting for this meeting to take place on Passover, the holiday of Freedom.

Agudath Israel is horrified by the attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
We are grateful to the security guards who quickly stopped the attacker, potentially saving many lives. This attack underscores the need for heightened security measures to protect Jewish communities and ensure that houses of worship are safe havens, not targets.
Every state that opts in means more families gaining access to real educational choices for their children
