@Paddington1313 @Limesinfluencer It all depends on whether you believe that communicating with people can convince them to change their minds. You don't have to look very far to find a long list of Republicans who thought that the current President shouldn't have said/done xyz because people would turn away.
@knjastan@shift_in2_turbo The war has been going on since 1948 and the US has been explicitly picking a side since day one, that's your tax dollars getting involved.
I feel some sympathy for Harris bc it was Biden who worked tirelessly to prevent a ceasefire but I feel way more sympathy for their victims.
@SSBatch There's more in it when you factor in that most places in Central Birmingham are walking distance from New Street, whereas once you're in London you still have to spend 30 minutes on the tube to get to the part you'd need to.
Besides, most people travel by car in this country.
@monetianna@trapezoidmouth They're being charged more than the landlord needs. Now, you can of course say that that's just good capitalism/business. But you can't pretend it's being a good person to say you overcharged someone bc you didn't trust them with their own money.
@trapezoidmouth@Had_2_ask The accurate perspective is that they could've been charged less rent and decided how to spend the money themselves. For all we know they would've invested it and made 10x as much money. There's nothing kind about charging them extra and pretending it's charity.
@ringmagazine Why change the bio to say "Subscribe for boxing news that matters" if this account is still going to be reposting ancient celebrity and social media crap?
@wolves2settle @almost_esq Literally nobody said that American lives don't matter. No comparison was made until the point of "fellow American lives" was raised.
The point is you either believe everyone matters or that some groups matter more, hence the Dr. Seuss cartoon.
@jpwkeeper@prem_thakker The only rubicon I think is a direct all-out war against Iran. And the appetite for that is about the same in both parties, prefer to avoid if possible but not a catastrophe if that's another shattered norm. Everything else is theatre, including the grumbling about red lines.
@jpwkeeper@prem_thakker I do not believe Trump is reliable or trustworthy source of information. Plus he stands to benefit from saying that everything Biden does is terrible. And even if Harris loses, Biden would console himself with the knowledge that at least Trump is as pro-Israel as himself.
@jpwkeeper@prem_thakker Things really don't get much looser than unconditional support and zero red lines. The only difference is that if Trump was doing it, one of the two parties would be saying that war crimes are wrong and international law matters.
