A challenging US stamp for collectors. The 6 cent ultramarine Washington issue of 1869. Typically poorly centered and with irregular perforations as well as often being heavily cancelled. Finding decent examples can be difficult. Scott # 115. Quantity issued 4,882,750. Used for double domestic letter rate - often letters to Canada or the UK.
Always nice to complete a page. I had the full set except for the 10 franc, which I had used, and found a nice unused example in an APS circuit today - along with a few other upgrades. Liberty and Peace issue of 1900 - 1926. Scott # 121 - 132.
New pick up for Washington Franklin issues. Scott # 459 - 2 cent carmine imperforate with single line watermark - issue of 1914. Estimate issue of 21,000 with only 1,500 stamps estimated to have been saved by collectors. Used examples are rare. Had it not been for the Washington Franklin issues I likely would not have collected into the 20th century with my US collection.
