What are you doing to fight entropy today?

@Orwelian84@AkkadSecretary Also kids these days haven't been around long enough to understand that prior to 2008 markets were not up only on various flavors of quantitative easing or liquidity swaps. Unless the Treasury/Federal Reserve starts doing extreme yield curve control, no guarantees that it stays
@Orwelian84 Just watch, they're gonna call to put stepper motors on a national registry next.
You will eat the future they deem "right" for the masses.
@therealcarlin Long story short, the photoinitiators used to make resins sensitive to near UV messes up the platinum catalyst used in platinum cure silicones. Clear coats generally won't do much as photoinitiators can leach through the coatings.
@therealcarlin I work in resin manufacturing. Raw SLA prints are generally a nogo as they inhibit silicone cure (even with a polyurethane coat) with 2 exceptions
1. You post cure the entire for surface (1-3hrs+) by soaking the part in water and limit oxygen exposure
2. Use tin-cure silicone
@Xaraphim Depends on the volume of materials you are testing. If it's a handful of materials a month build your own machine to get ballpark numbers and outsource to an actual lab when you need Insistron accuracy. Because holy canoli they are expensive machines and the used market sucks.
@t3nable The issue was the bureaucracy is extremely unfriendly to small startups and basically allows a few very large companies to pesudeo monopolize the market for the feedstocks that might have resulted in cheaper dental work in some form.
@t3nable A few years back I worked with a pre-seed startup that was developing bio safe UV resins used to print dental appliances and the black pill was that the material was about ~$60/kg (competition was $300+) but we would have had to spend 500k+ on lawyers to get FDA certified.
@Xaraphim That's the irony, game devs and movie studios learned to handle Cosplayers (who are technically in violation of copyright and trademarks) with a little care and will reach out and have a gentle conversation when someone stays too far beyond the line.
Bambu did not get the memo.
@Xaraphim From what I know all IP violations need to be pursued (no matter in how much good faith they are e.g. a well meaning dev) in order for their trademark/patent/copyright to remain defensible in the future. Is one of the reasons why Disney has a building full of lawyers.
