LFT in Marvel Rivals. Coaching since 2018, including OWL.
Been watching a lot of scrims through client and would love to help a team reach their goals in invitational or MRC. DMs open.
This doesn't fully pass the smell test to me. I still think older pro players will fight an uphill battle in any esport that shows the current signs of longevity, namely growth and rate of change. (exceptions like CS well taken)
If especial skill is constantly being forced out of the skill pool by meta evolutions or game updates (devaluing experience and crystalized skills) and older pro players learn less quickly even at equal effort given decreasing G-factor, they will lose ground in the long run.
If a game remains relatively stable in the efficiency of each domain of skill expression over the years, experience can make up for slower learning.
Another factor is the selection of innate traits that filter for competitors with the most relevant talent for each respective meta. Unless the older pro has additional factors that allow for slumps, periods that don't play to their inherent advantage are more likely to make team-building personnel decide against them, choking out their career more easily than younger players.
Also, if an esport grows steadily, so does the talent pool and the likelihood of entailing better talent than the older pros. In that, it is very likely that a vast majority of today's pro players would've never made it if esports had the status and financial opportunities that sports does.
Absolutely gutted for my entire GGRecon family, we worked so hard. I’m still in shock finding out that we’re being closed this morning. Just like my incredibly talented colleagues, I’m now on the job hunt. Any social/content/brand full time or contract roles - RTs appreciated ♥️
Devastated to find out this morning that I've been made redundant from GGRecon. I couldn't have had a better time there, and I'm really proud of the work we all produced 💔
I'm now actively looking for work, both freelance and full time.
RTs appreciated ✨
*sigh*, my turn! As of this morning, I and the entire team at GGRecon have been made redundant.
I'm actively looking for freelance work, with particular expertise in video game guides, news, reviews, and features. Also open to hardware coverage.
DMs open, RTs appreciated ❤️
Here we go then - I'm officially open for work.
I'm an experienced editor with six years in games media while also freelancing in tech and fitness. I'm proficient in news, reviews, guides, features, interviews and just about anything else.
I can also freelance in gaming for the first time in years, and am open to permanent roles in the industry, too, with plenty of gaming and tech contacts that would benefit any organisation.
My CV is available upon request, but you can also email me: thelloydcoombes[at]gmail[dot]com.
RTs and shares appreciated, thank you!
Devastated doesn't cut it, but after nearly five years I have been made redundant as GGRecon closes. I loved the company and gave it my all.
As for what is next, I'm looking for work immediately, whether its esports journalism, wider gaming news or PR work!
Please DM me.

And with that, my time at GGRecon comes to an end due to layoffs. It sucks, but I'm raring to get right back into something new - and I'm having a go at doing some freelance stuff so if you need a video editor with nearly four years of experience in the games industry, hit me up!
