મુખ્યમંત્રીશ્રીએ કેમિકલ અને પેટ્રોકેમિકલ સેક્ટરને ગુજરાતના અર્થતંત્રના ઝડપી વિકાસ માટેનો સૌથી મજબૂત આધાર ગણાવી ગુજરાતને દેશના 'પેટ્રો કેપિટલ' તરીકેની ઓળખ આપતાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે, દેશની કુલ નિકાસમાં ગુજરાતનો 33% ફાળો છે જેમાં આ સેક્ટરનું યોગદાન 60% છે.

મુખ્યમંત્રીશ્રીએ માનનીય વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદીના દુરંદેશી નેતૃત્વને પરિણામે દહેજના પેટ્રોલિયમ, કેમિકલ્સ એન્ડ પેટ્રોકેમિકલ રીજીયન (PCPIR)ને દેશના એકમાત્ર ઓપરેશનલ PCPIR તરીકેની ઉપલબ્ધિ દર્શાવી હતી તેમજ સાથોસાથ કેમિકલ ઉદ્યોગની પર્યાવરણ પરની અસરો સામે સરકારની સુનિયોજિત વ્યવસ્થાની રૂપરેખા પણ આપી હતી.
