@CaesarSalahD @BMVAYY550i @earlyamhistory @AyaRaalte Well here's one difference: The Americans had no connection to the land of north America. On the other hand, the Jews have a profound and ancient connection to the land of Israel.
@BMVAYY550i @earlyamhistory @CaesarSalahD@AyaRaalte no, my argument is that there *was no* nationalist movement at the time. This isn't debatable, it's just facts.
@SwannMarcus89 Drives me fucking insane. It's the entire reason why the term post-Zionism exists: Israel already has been created. The mission of the ideology was successful. Yes, there's crucial Qs about the final borders, the Palestinians, etc. But how is 'Destroy Israel' a reasonable view
The discourse around the word "Zionist" is weird because like 99% of the population is Zionist - including most alleged anti-Zionists - because being anti-Zionist in 2024 would mean supporting the destruction of Israel
"Zionist" does not mean "likes Israel"
@Samfr @ihearsinez In 1997 they were able to boast about various accomplishments over the prior Tory governments that at least large parts of Britain agreed with – ending the union strikes, deregulating the economy spurring growth, etc. Now? What would they have to boast about?
Yesterday: The U.S. Congress tells @Columbia that it's investigating its refusal to stop antisemitism and pro-terror organizations on campus
Today: *Another* unauthorized protest by a suspended pro-terror organization at @Columbia
(alarming thread with videos and pictures)
@The_Real_BD1 @_LFI@UKLabour No, the problem is you don't realise you're part of the problem, not the solution. Your view *are* how antisemitism manifests today, and has *exactly* the same consequences for Jews.
In the last day, has anyone noticed an uptick of non-Jews telling the world what is and is not antisemitism?
They like to declare what they deem antisemitic as an attempt to mask their own antisemitism.
Governments should not escape criticism for their faults, but Israel should not be held to standards not expected or demanded of other democratic states, nor should its actions ever be compared to those who sought to exterminate the Jewish people less than 100 years ago.
