As part of our 2026 roadmap, weβve outlined plans to co-stake with blue chip assets to strengthen the Axelar Networkβs economic security.
What could it mean if assets like XRP enter the picture?
We see deep synergies between Axelar & XRPL. Most significant application of interop today is payments & RWA, and XRPL is the embodiment of this. Join our discussion tomorrow to talk about Common Prefix taking over Axelar, formal verification of XRPL, and intistutional readiness.
πWhat do the efforts of XRP Ledger formal spec/verify and Axelar have in common?
The same team is contributing to both!
Join me and @CommonPrefix so we can learn together about the powerful formal spec/verify, XRP Ledger developments, Axelar and more.

The @CommonPrefix team has an ambitious roadmap to innovate amid shifts in the markets + blockchain ecosystems.
Letβs unpack the 3 key phases of their roadmap π

We've had a privilege of working with Common Prefix previously and can confidently vouch for their experience. Itβs a top-tier team of engineers and scientists advancing blockchain technology and working with dozens of L1s, dApps, and institutions, including Mysten Labs, Babylon, and Sei. In particular, theyβve been working with Axelar since 2021, even before mainnet launch
In other words, Common Prefix is not a newcomer, itβs a professional team that has been building at the highest level for yearsΒ

While Circleβs acquisition of the Interop Labs team is a significant event, the fundamentals remain unchanged: Axelar is still an independent, permissionless protocol driving interoperability forward
Letβs be honest: Bitcoin's story didn't end when Satoshi stepped away. Neither did Compound's or Yearn's. Axelar's fundamentals remain: the network, the validators, the tech
The focus of this transition aren't the values, but validators and the broader Axelar community
Key priorities for 2026 include:Β
β Better incentive alignment: eliminate unprofitable connections, prioritize high-impact networks (XRPL, Sui, Solana, Ethereum, Stellar, Hyperliquid, etc.)
β AXL token re-evaluation (considering its alignment with validator economics)
β Co-staking: enabling co-staking of blue chip assets to strengthen economic security
β Gasless bridgingΒ

Thrilled to finally share what we have been working on with @ja_akinyele, @v_tumas, and the @RippleXDev team:
We documented XRPL's Payment Engine by producing the first comprehensive specification of the system. While the Payment Engine implements sophisticated logic for path finding, payment execution, and multi-currency support, this complexity had not been previously captured in formal documentation. Our work provided Ripple's developers and other stakeholders with a clear, shared reference, resolving a long-standing challenge in understanding and safely extending the codebase.
This is just the beginning. We have laid the foundations towards formal verification of the Payment Engine, then Consenus, and eventually all critical components of `xrpld`. Excited to continue collaborating with Ripple in the years to come.

@Qrypt0s@nikolaskama@sergey_nog@yorgosv_@interop_labs@circle@axelar I believe Axelar is in good hands, what changes is the team behind (although not 100% since CP has been a core contributor already), the tech is still there, the token is still there, and CP can take Axelar to the next level if they follow the vision and listen to the community.
Axelar's original team, Interop Labs, has been acquired by Circle, and Common Prefix will lead development of the Axelar Network from here on.
We've enjoyed working with Common Prefix for years and are excited to continue to do so. Their team is sharp, professional and I'm confident will do a great job in their new position.
Not much changes from Squid's point of view here. We will continue to support bridging of Axelar assets via ITS in our API and app, as well as focus on Coral for cross chain swaps and fast bridging.
We will collaborate with Common Prefix on new opportunities and technologies around Axelar as they come as well.
Common Prefix is taking the lead stewardship role of Axelar. We are excited to share our plans for 2026, with more details to be announced in Q1.
Our team consists of scientistsβprofessors, PhDs, and post-docsβfrom world-renowned universities like Stanford, Imperial, ETH ZΓΌrich, and University of Edinburgh. But also senior engineers with decades of experience in hedge funds, TradFi, and Web3. We bridge the gap between science and engineering.
We are razor-sharp focused on institutional adoption. For this, we will double down on the ecosystems that matter like XRPL, Sui, Solana, Ethereum, Stellar, and Hyperliquid. We will make sure that supported connections bring value to the ecosystem, and the right incentives for validators.
For institutional, we need increased economic security. Weβll enable co-staking of blue chip tokens beyond just AXL. Privacy, compliance, and robustness will also be a theme for the year.
For bridging, we will remove friction of moving assets from chain to chain by introducing gasless bridging. Subsidies will come from investing capital locked in gateway contracts, creating novel asset classes. Users will always have the choice to act according to their risk appetite.
Lastly, weβre building up-the-stack in select key verticals: stablecoins, tokenized deposits, yield, and lending. A fusion of new chains creates an opportunity for new emerging asset classes.
Weβre incredibly proud of what we've built with @axelar, growing the network to support 80+ connections, processing billions of value, and growing the ecosystem with dozens of applications and thousands of users. In the next chapter, Iβm excited to share that we have entered into agreement with @circle, where Interop Labs team and technology transition to becoming a core part of their interoperability strategy.
Together, we will lay the groundwork for the next era of onchain finance.
Since we started building Axelar in 2020, the network has grown into an open-source community of builders. @CommonPrefix has been continuously contributing to the Axelar Network with new connections, security designs, and more. Going forward, they will take over Interop Labs' activities building and maintaining the protocol.
Iβm confident that Nikolaos, Dionysis and team will continue supporting all existing partners and growing the ecosystem. Weβll be working closely with them on the transition and to ensure continuity and long-term support.
Huge congratulations to @sergey_nog@yorgosv_ & @interop_labs for joining @circle. Weβre honored to lead @axelar into its next era. Beyond state-of-the-art interop infra, we're taking over the business, product & vision of Axelar. Can't wait to share more about our 2026 roadmap!
Congratulations to our friends @sergey_nog@yorgosv_ for the acquisition of @interop_labs by @circle ! We at @CommonPrefix are honoured to be taking over Axelar Network, with a great roadmap building up and down the stack to bring interoperable blockchains to mainstream adoption.
Weβre excited to introduce Honest Majority, a new podcast by Common Prefix. Episode 1 with @baincapcrypto partner @alexhevans is now live: Can Data Availability be Zero Knowledge? 1/4
