.@doriannpalmer: “For almost a century, the Young Democrats have served as the youth arm of the @NCDemParty. Throughout that history, we’ve served as conscience of this party and a voice for change.”
Exactly. The misconception that affirmative action meant unqualified people have been admitted into college solely because of their race was never true and is quite frankly an ignorant interpretation. Thank you @joyannreid for setting the record straight and sharing your truth!
The only goal that decisions like this stand to do is to pit non-white communities against one another while continually creating an opportunity gap between wealthy, conservative elites and everyone else.
This is not a win for equality. This is a regression going back decades.
It is important for every Lowcountry voter to know that not only did @RepNancyMace vote against this critical infrastructure bill, she called it a "fiasco," "absurd," and this specific program - funding for electric mass transit vehicles - an example of "socialism.”
This budget contains so many positive and very significant investments and opportunities for ALL areas of South Carolina! This is certainly the most substantial budget for rural infrastructure and programs in my tenure. Thank you for allowing me to serve SC House District 101!✅
Today House Republicans will pass a bill to retroactively charge student loan borrowers interest on their paused payments, repeal @POTUS' student loan debt relief plan, and claw back aid from public servants.
Cruelty is the point.
We don’t think legislators having religious sermons at the well of the House was thoughtful.
We don’t believe silencing the testimonies of hundreds of people was transparent.
And colluding with the most partisan and misogynistic men in the Legislature is not a collaboration.
It’s funny that Rep. John McCravy is complaining about how many amendments we filed.
The record for most amendments? That’s held by Rep. McCravy, who filed 1,016 amendments to the medical marijuana bill last year.
600 OB/GYNs doctors in SC are members of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. 5 doctors in SC are members of the anti-abortion OB/GYN group. A legislator today said doctors were undecided on reproductive care. Nah. They’re really not.
See my plea to the South Carolina legislature to cut the culture wars and take action for our kids.
CC: House Speaker @murrellsmith, Senate Maj. Leader @shanemassey.
