The increasing political polarization we’re seeing today isn’t anything new. It’s similar to what we saw in the 1930s, and it’s even something Plato wrote about a couple thousand years ago.

In democracies, people vote for their interests. And since people generally want more, politicians want to give it to them — and are willing to go into debt to make that happen.

Ultimately, things reach a breaking point where discipline is needed. People want somebody to get control of the government and make it work well.

But there are two versions as to who that somebody is.

In the 1930s, this led to the rise of fascism (for people who wanted a strong leader to lead a command economy) and communism (for people who wanted to redistribute opportunities).

Job displacement is real concern.

We are only debating the timelines, and what jobs these individuals will eventually be trained for.

The three categories below represent ~20% of the American workforce.

The majority of these jobs will be gone in the next decade.

I know this because the founders of companies in this space have pitched me for over 10 years and explicitly stated that this is their goal.

I'm not a doomerist or a decel.

I'm simply pointing out the absolute hypocrisy of our industry when we claim that this displacement is "overhyped."

1. For every factory robot deployed by @Figure_robot (valued at $30-40B for a reason!), we will retire six factory jobs. The robot will cost $1 an hour and run 23.x hours a day. The factory workers would have been paid $25-35 all in.

2. For every @Waymo (valued at $50B with ~1,000 cars on road) deployed, we lose four full-time driver jobs (or eight gig workers). They will run at < $1 a mile eventually.

3. The drive-through workers, cashiers and cooks are already being replaced by technology (and offshoring) in fast food restaurants.

No government should be able to impose rules and regulations on your property when you have no representation! Recently, #txlege eliminated forced annexation in Texas altogether, so SB 2038 allows property owners a way out!

SB 2038 empowers residents and property owners by allowing them to remove themselves from a municipality’s ETJ. SB 2038 will give residents and property owners a simple path to disannexation through letter, petition, and election procedures. Great work by House sponsor @CBellJr and joint sponsor @RepSchofield, et al... to get three acceptable amendments on in the House last week and the bill goes to @GovAbbott for his signature review! @TPPF @TexasSenateGOP
