When Zone of the Enders was being made for the Dreamcast, one of the proposed title was Atlantis, derived from the 1977 TV series Man From Atlantis.
The reason? The protagonist from the show wore trunks with a symbol that resembles the Dreamcast logo.

References to "ZOE3" were found while data-mining the executable for the 'Guy Savage' mini-game from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

This seems to lend credence to rumors that the 'Guy Savage' mini-game was a prototype for Zone of the Enders 3.
