The PC-9821 was released in 1994. At the time, I was called back to Kobe Port Island and was put in charge of a small department called Development Division No. 5 (Yoji also joined the company then). I was a manager and doing production at the same time. I was also creating a 3DO version. The Kobe earthquake happened in 1985, and I moved to Osaka. In 1986, we established KCEJ (Konami Computer Entertainment Japan) in Ebisu, Tokyo. We developed MGS while working on the Sega Saturn version.
BREAKING NEWS: Ok, bare with me for a moment while I explain something. So a few weeks back, I made a post about a "Easter egg" type feature in MGS(1) where Psycho Mantis would read your PS1 memory card for certain saves you may have that would trigger certain lines from him, specifically if certain Konami saves were located on the memory card. Here comes the interesting part, well only found in the Japanese version of MGS(1). The range of lines from him was far greater, so much so in fact that if you had certain save combinations from certain Konami games, it would trigger even more specific lines from him. Metal Gear Solid Integral has a slightly different list of quotes Psycho Mantis tells, as well as a modified and/or updated list of games he can detect compared to the original JPN version of MGS (1).
Now. This is absolutely insane. Konami has not only restored this function in the Master Collection Vol.1. for MGS(1) but...
What blows my mind about this is, If I'm understanding this right.. (if I'm not someone from Japan please enlighten me) seen in the screenshot below, it shows the list of game saves the player wishes to load. (I used google image-translate to understand what I was looking at.) Remember, on the PS1 this all depended on the player HAVING these specific saves on their memory card in the first place to even happen, but what you're seeing in the screenshot below is functionality THAT HAS NEVER EXISTED until now, so this is the first time in MGS(1)'s history that this LOAD save functionality even exists!
I'm still confused as to how these saves are to be acquired? Maybe after multiple play throughs as rewards/achievements or for ranks? Or just as is via the cloud?! What in the hell else is Konami not telling us about what they are doing to these games specifically?! Sorry for being long winded about this but this is crazy! I haven't seen anyone mention this feature at any of the local or international influencer or media events held by Konami.
Thanks to @shitai_ for bringing this to my attention.

The new Metal Gear Solid website added buttons to the timeline for the games in Master Collection Vol. 1, but if you inspect the page, there are placeholder buttons for MGS4, Peace Walker, and MGSV as well.
Very interesting.
